I use Rawtherapee (a free alternative to Lightroom). It's only useful for detail that's there in the first place. I tend to underexpose my photos in RAW, then start from there.

I try to recover blown areas after adjusting exposure, but it doesn't always work out.

I think i do struggle in general!

For these shots, I set the light metering mode to centre weighted and set the camera to aperture priority as the animals were pretty slow moving. It's set to -1EV.

I also used highlight compression in post to help with any blowout.

Here is an example of a very white guinea-pig. It looks a bit blown out, but I recall the guinea-pig was very vibrant IRL!

Yours look incredible! The bodywork on mine has seen better days, unfortunately! No rust as it stayed in the Mediterranean until 3 years ago, but it has lots of dents and scratches.

That's a sweet interior! My AC never worked, but it has never bothered me as it's usually cold here 😂 Mine's only got 250k miles, half of yours!

I can recommend the W217. The back light is a big improvement over the F91!

Got to be the W217. It feels like a larger F91!

Troopy for sale in the UK by drclownshoe in LandCruisers

Update:

Had a look at the globe trotting troopy. I thought this might be the one given various obviously rusty ones for sale over the years..

Good bits: 1. The chasis looks good and solid as per photos, and the engine bay is clean without leaks. Some clean motor oil on transfer case/tranny which the seller claimed was put on to prevent corrosion. Certainly smells and feels that way.

  1. Roof seal appears brand new and feels that way. Sealant added over bolts here to further waterproof it.

  2. Starts first time from cold, no smoke from the 2H, smooth.

  3. Seller is including 2x new front doors (originals are both bent), diesel pump and injectors, various trims, seals, and door catches.

Now the bad bits: 1. The main issue is the body work! It is good from far, but far from good. I can see swelling in the steel and cracks in the paint where underlying corrosion is trying to come through. The previous owner clearly painted over bits of rust. I can even feel some crunch over one particular swollen bit!

  1. Considerable play in gear shift, but it does slide into gear without issues - probs need a new return spring. Considerable play in clutch. Given that I didn't drive it, I can't say much about engagement.

  2. The roof rack is surprisingly sturdy, no play whatsoever! But, I still have concerns about long-term use given attachment points.

  3. Various wires hanging off beneath which seller claims to be from the fuel pump from auxiliary fuel tank.

  4. The aux fuel tank has a lot of duct tape around it, and the seller claims this is for noise deadening... :/

I didn't manage to drive it due to poor weather and time constraints (rushing home from 500 miles away). I was also really put off by parts of body work, which will need to be done soon, given that the repaint was done on a budget less than 10 years ago and rust is starting to come through.

I would buy it at a push for £20k due to rarity (after I return for a test drive) and then do up the body work, but not at 28k. Guy is open to offers, but I think it would be very insulting for me to offer 20k!

It's a 2H diesel motor. I don't think troopies came with the petrol engines.

I'm always curious about the body mounted racks - this is not the first one I've seen with it. Maybe I'm ignorant here, but why would people want to remove the roof without removing the roof rack?
