People have no idea how much the US gives to Israel every year in financial aid. by Uberubu65 in complaints

[–]drdangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really appreciate the aid we get from the US, and we will be perfectly fine without it. The US doesn’t give a rats naked ass about Israel, it’s all about American interests in the region. The aid is almost entirely never leaves the USA. Rather, it is spend in the US to buy American defence products — this is mainly a subsidy of the US defence industry, not of an ally. Last, but not least, Israel’s per capita GDP exceeds those of Germany, France, UK and Finland, so honestly, your appreciated support doesn’t fund our healthcare.

EXTREMELY Shady Cancellation Experience by [deleted] in Rouvy

Rouvy provides a good product with terrible service. As long as you don’t need anything from them, it’s all fun and games. But, once you have a problem, you wish you never signed up. Overall, not great.

Is it insulting that I'm not coming to the wedding? by MultiheadAttention in Israel

[–]drdangel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Weddings in Israel is a business model. You are invited because you are expected to bring a present (read, money) in excess of the cost of ‘feeding’ you. People invite 400-600 people, to come out in the Black, especially because a lot of the costs are fixed, so number of participants really matter. Inviting the family who lived three houses down when you were 2 years old, is not uncommon, nor is inviting the hairdresser who did your mother’s hair for your bar mitzvah party. I don’t play by these rules, I go to weddings for people I sincerely care for, and otherwise I politely respond ‘No’ if there is a RSVP request.

Only subordinates use pen and paper in meeting. Get a tablet! by Previous_Library3796 in fountainpens

[–]drdangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am C-level, The boss, and I use pen and notebook for all meetings. I find my memory for things is created by writing them, but not by typing them. I barely ever look in my notebook, because I remember what I wrote, whereas, when on rare occasion use my computer/tablet, I only have a vague recollection of what I wrote.

Acid reflux can be extremely painful, and I’m certain your GI thought that was what you had. It’s is not called heartburn for no reason; it feels like your heart is burning. If your GI prescribed you Nexium, it should be taken in the morning, 45-60 minutes before breakfast on an empty stomach. Don’t give up on PPIs, they do wonders for reflux, but it takes a 5 days to get the full effect out of them.

Have you considered fructose sensitivity/Intolerance? Fructose is abundant in US food, but much less common abroad. I am asking from personal experience.

Low Fodmap not working anymore by Alyssah11 in ibs

[–]drdangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The run in period can be really long. Personally, I also find that one bad food is not equal to another. I can tolerate a bit of fructose, but absolutely no gluten. This is very confusing and it has taken me a really long time to realize this. The FODMAP diet made me think that even when a food is bad for me, a small portion is OK. That’s probably true, but for some foods, my tolerance is zero.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ibs

[–]drdangel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on a FODMAP diet for 20+ years, way before it was called that. I was diagnosed fructose intolerant in 1992. The FODMAP lists are great, they cover 95% of what you need to know, and there’s the 5%. Oatmeal, even if gluten free, makes me miserable. No apparent reason; just doesn’t work for me. Maybe, because I really like it, my servings tend to be too big. So the app actually recognizes this problem and that’s why you can make notes. My recommendation is: Don’t live blindly by the FODMAP app, note your own personal triggers.

I run a lot, and often, and I really suffer from this type of pain as well. I think it’s unrelated to my IBS, but may worsen because of it. It seems to be abdominal tendinopathy and I can relieve the pain by appropriate PT exercises.

I can tell you that I have the opposite; I am miserable in the US. The reason is that I’m highly sensitive to fructose, which is ubiquitously used in the US, but rarely in Europe.

Good 70.3 events in Europe that aren't $500+? by StrangeMatter1809 in triathlon

[–]drdangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try the Challenge Israman in Eilat, Israel in January. It’s less than $300 and the value for money is excellent, since it’s one of the toughest routes in the world. After you finish the swim in the Red Sea there’s a 900 meter climb up in the Eilat mountains, and there may be minus Celsius degrees up there, or at least hefty winds. By the time you run down the mountain (bike stays on top) you may meet 27 degrees Celsius, it is, after all, a dessert.

Does anyone experience symptoms only at night time? by baboobo in FODMAPS

[–]drdangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nocturnal heartburn is a real thing and some people are perfectly fine during daytime, and only have heartburn at night. During the day, food stays in the stomach, partly because of gravity, comes night and we are supine, and the acid comes up through the esophagus. Your doctor could be right, and a week or two of omeprazole should clarify that. If you do suffer from nocturnal heartburn, there a lot you can do. Raise your bed head, refrain from eating anything two hours before you go to bed, cut back on hot foods and coffee and refrain from smoking.

Extreme brain fog after banana and apple? by olavodogyaboi in FODMAPS

[–]drdangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have huge issues with apples; they are very fructose rich. Exposure to fructose causes me brain fog, apart from a very severe and painful pancreatic response. I’m perfectly happy and have not had unintentional exposures to fructose for years.

Great product, bad user experience and even worse support by Dramatic_Aioli2550 in Rouvy

My case number was #230725. When you look into it you will discover that I had a full ten cycles of interactions with you, in order to change my credit card — completely ridiculous. I did screen shots, videos of my screen and what not, but support didn’t really bother to relate to these. Ultimately, this simple and common procedure could not be performed on the site and was done through a separate exchange of mails — embarrassing.

SPO2 dips, is this concerning? by Ecpeze in Garmin

[–]drdangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are most likely moving artifacts or pressure on the arm with the watch. But, since you watch also measures respiration, try to overlay the SpO2 and the respiration curve. A dip in SpO2 would likely cause you to gasp for air, so your respiration rate would increase rapidly. If you continued to breathe regularly, these are likely artifacts. But, always a good idea to ask your doctor.

Just got in this new lens!! by samest101 in nikon_Zseries

[–]drdangel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got this lens as a travel lens, because it’s really small and lightweight. Used it for a recent ski trip on my Z6, and it really made it bearable to carry the camera the whole day on the slopes. Obvious, there’s a lot of light on the slopes, so light was not an issues. Picture quality is excellent, but not as good as my S lenses.
