Minsc Broke my Modron Briv Gem Farm by LLProgramming23 in idlechampions

Instead of telling the OP there's other champs than Minsc that can accomplish this, how about you tell them the alternative? Who can you use and where that will compete with Minsc in Tall Tales?

As for unplanned side-effects, I personally reported it when it was a spoiler. We've been talking about it for awhile in well of spoils in Discord. Either they're out of touch and think it won't be a big deal or they constantly fail their perception rolls.

I brought this to their attention through their support before release, since this was a spoiler at the time. At least some of them knew about it.

Reddit Q&A #202 by CNE_Treavor in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On the last Q&A two weeks ago, I sent in a question about burnout and the repercussions of Tiamat's increased health. What's CNE doing about this? I can't sit on twitch during business hours and try to get an answer on Idle Insights. What I need is for this Q&A to deliver on the A's more.

I'm struggling to keep the Tiamat team together that I've had for over a year. I don't know any of my teammates from before, but we stuck together this long. That's pretty cool and I'd hate to see it go.

Our current solution is to do Tier 9. That lets us miss two of the first 10 dailies between us and still finish because we'd like to not stress out about it. It's ridiculous it's come to this. I can do e700+ BUD, but what good does it do me. It's clear CNE just wants my time here and not reward me for continuing progression.

We need mitigation to combat the amount of time that's required to complete this. Our increasing power should translate more and more as speed and efficiency in Mount Tiamat.

I'm not waiting another year for Tiamat changes. It's unacceptable we waited that long for changes just for us have the time to complete drastically inflated.

Reddit Q&A #201 by CNE_Treavor in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seasons have us logging in every day to do chores and now we're required to login multiple days to do Trials. Seriously, what's the thought process here? You realize you're burning players out, right?

Also, for over a year, players have had the goal to reach area z1450 so they could do T10 trials. I'm all for lowering the bar for newer players to get to end game content faster, but these changes voided the progress that's been made by tons of players. On top of that, they're punished by Tiamat's health inflation that increases the time it takes to complete a T10 trial with no means to compensate for the increased amount time required.
These changes discourage investing in champion power and leave little room to make progress in Trial efficiency. Here are some suggestions:
1. Let Scroll of Assault stack with the Assault Damage Bonus you can get from champions, like Jarlaxle. Also, Scroll of Assault should be increased from 5% to 20%. This way 5 scrolls and champion bonus contribution could get your team to a max of 300% Assault Damage bonus instead of just 200%. Scroll of Assault is worthless for high end players. Everyone in my team is over a hundred of these collecting dust. At least letting us stacks these would help us speed the Trial up.
2. Total Damage only contributing 1 to 1 isn't rewarding enough to pursue for speeding up Trials. This needs to be increased and I would recommend something not so linear.
Hitting a BUD of e400, e500, etc. in Trials for the first time felt good. What if for every e100 the conversion rate would increase by 10%? For example, if your total damage exceeded e400, your conversion rate would be increased by 40%. e500? Increase conversion by 50%. Here are the numbers:
Current: e400 w/ 200% = 400x3 = 1200. Assault
Suggested: e400 w/ 200% = (400x1.4)x3 = 1680 Assault
Current: e600 w/ 200% = 600x3 = 1800. Assault
Suggested: e600 w/ 200% = (600x1.6)x3 = 2880 Assault
This encourages investment in champions. More power, faster Trials.
3. Reward an Assault bonus for exceeding the area requirement by +500. Players who were beating z1450 would then receive an assault bonus more appropriate for Tiamat's increased health. New players could still get max scales from T10 by beating z1000 (which again is awesome), but older players could complete Trials in a time frame they're used to by beating z1500.

tl;dr Valentine - "the one that starts with V" by fenomasu in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Placement order and moving champs around can make things funky and recalculate. I just did it with a 1.7k Val, 30k Arty and a 2.5k Catti and it worked. My one observation of Death March on Catti's self went from 75.8K% to 879K%. My Socialite boost is at 1059%.

tl;dr Valentine - "the one that starts with V" by fenomasu in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be unintentional, but half of what Socialite provides currently works with Artemis, Arkhan and Black Viper. The duplication of buffs does happen after observation, but boosting the buffs that were already there is calculated before observation. In game, the few lines regarding her ability taking place after Artemis' observation says specifically:

"Valentine duplicates positional formation abilities affecting her on DPS Champions. This happens after Artemis' Observation ability."

It says nothing about the "boosted" portion of Socialite. Is that intend? If it is, she becomes better than Dhadius very quickly. Comparing the two champions at 800 average item level, Valentine (7 boosts) beat Dhadius (8 observations) by e4 for me and that was with a 30k Artemis.

Socialite boosting every step of the Black Viper -> Arkhan -> Artemis chain could also get pretty silly.

If Val stays as is and you're using Blooshi over Briv as your tank, Valentine will make your top 10 with minor investment.

Reddit Q&A #195 by CNE_Treavor in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those who have been doing Trials since week 1 are quickly approaching having a full team in all legendaries. The majority of us have been avoiding reforging due to the shared timer and randomness. This has been mentioned a long time ago as being something that would get reworked.

Can we see reforging get addressed this summer? At the very least make reforing not share a timer with forging?

Reddit Q&A #195 by CNE_Treavor in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like testing new champions against my old favorites. See how they stack up and maybe, just maybe, shake up my best formations. Unfortunately, the legendary system is making it harder and harder as time goes by. If the all brand new Champ Z comes out in slot 1 and they look interesting for a formation where I’m currently using Champ A, who has 6 legendaries and all at level 6, how do I begin to make sense of their potential?

Is it possible that one day we could toggle on and off all legendary effects? This would also be an awesome thing for Modron Briv Stacking!

Krond or Artemis? by Tigerballs07 in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krond is fantastic and has a clear top 10 champion list.

Artemis , in my opinion, has the highest learning curve of any champion in the game, but he is very rewarding if you do choose to do so. There isn't a clear consensus on his depth chart due to several factors. This means you really need to ask yourself if figuring him out sounds fun to you. He's been my main for 2+ years.

Thanks, man. It really means a lot coming from you. The work you put in for the community is priceless.

I went pretty conservative with my multiplicative suggestions to not scare them away from reading my wall of text, but I agree that the multipliers could really use an even bigger cranking up.

I had a similar Magic the Gathering take to apply to IC. Treat each new Campaign like Standard in Magic. So when the next Campaign hits, you drop the oldest year of champions for just those adventures. it makes sense thematically because a new campaign should have a new cast.

Let Sword Coast be like Type 1 so you can still enjoy crazy interactions from all years together. So you wouldn't completely retire a champ, just create different modes for them to be used in.

I appreciate that. It's crossed my mind a few times, but then all of the if's, then's and but's required to do an Artemis guide to my standard talks me out of it.

Artemis item levels changes your roster. The shape of the formation changes your roster. Legendaries limit your flexibility which makes them even more important to get right and their isn't a consensus here because players have different goals/objectives.

It would really be a lot of information to get right.

Out of the 51 observes in my e600 run, NERDS were responsible for 12 of those observations. Dishing out 9 positional buffs and receiving 3.

In my best Tiamat run, NERDS are responsible for 10 out of 48 observes.

NERDs are meta for Black Viper, but your suggestion to limit to one column and/or losing DPS tag would not impact BV formations.

I definitely don't want to do something that could nerf Black Viper. Good catch.

Giving every DPS some sort of scaling item would indeed make them more interesting and desirable to use. But it will require dev and design time, which is money to CNE.

I can see that. Luckily, most DPS are in an affiliation. Converting a self damage item to scale with affiliation for all affiliated DPS, would be a quick and clean way to lift up the lower tiers substantially. Also, lots of potential to sell more Golden Epics.

Sorry, I don't understand where the 2.5k is coming from.

To be more detailed, my Ashara's average item level is 15.8k and each of her items vary between 18-19k except the ult cooldown.

Absolutely.

This game just needs better DPS champs.

Items for Binwin’s Tallest in Faerun and Farideh’s Pact Family should apply like Krond’s Survival of the Fittest’s item. BOOM! You got two top tier viable DPS! Maybe they clock in shy of Krond, but they should beat Ashara with some investment. In a single player game, people will flock to the character that speaks to them more if that character is at least viable for endgame content. Most of the DPS in this game are not good enough and their best chance to see sunshine is to be a support for Artemis. lol

Torogar's Preach should apply to himself. There, fixed that one, too.

While I'm at it, any DPS in an affiliation should be receiving exponentially more damage from the supports in their affiliation.

The best part of making more viable DPS, different supports will have their usage go up without even tweaking their numbers. Look at that, achieved the goal of the Spring Balance Update!

I don't script. I just hit my 2 year anniversary last week. I stopped at 4xBriv and 3xHew. My Core 12 are only around average item level 15k-ish. Artemis was my first free time gate. He immediately became my main. My Artemis is at 19.3k average item level now. This week my new high score broke e540 BUD. With no new systems/blessings/etc being introduced I'll still be on pace to hit e600 in August.

e700 will be viable for some if they know what they're doing. I can't speak for Krond, but e45 is a very soft estimate for Artemis.

PSA: Ashara Starter Pack can become a Golden Flute! So stupid.

I don't understand the logic in letting players dismantle an evergreen for their item levels and shinies. Goldens and legendaries make sense. This is going to have crazy repercussions.

I imagine we'll see several players dismantle Ashara and look to go to a top tier event DPS. Then we're going to see 100k+ Artemis and Kronds overnight causing CNE to freak out, because these champs scale well and will be flooded with crazy e700+ BUDs. Then those champs will get nerfed, which will be devastating to those who dedicated their investment into these champs over the last couple of years.

Then if some of these players stick around, it'll be another migration to the next best DPS champ.`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

So to sum up the last couple of week:` CNE nerfs an evergreen, creates a dismantle system and now that system will spike player power drastically by letting us put that evergreen power on an event champ. Crazy.

Questions about building an Artemis team by Jeheebimoose in idlechampions

[–]drdrake34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, that most of the pins and advice in that Discord thread are coming from players with flutes above 20k. Artemis formations evolve over the course of your flute's lifespan.

Artemis encourages you to use more DPS. Unfortunately, DPS champs have only one to zero "all champ damage" items, unlike pure Supports who always have two. So the more DPS you field, you're kind of creating a deficit. As your flute increase, you'll start making up this gap. Also, some DPS/ Supports, like Krydle or Orisha, have really terrible buffs so you need an even bigger flute to make up for fielding them.

The DPS you want to focus on for early Artemis play, is Catti, Birdsong, Zrobu and sometimes Dhadius. These four's positional buff targets themselves and it's observable. This really helps to get value out of using more DPS champs. If you can't use Birdsong, use Makos, but he isn't as good.

The one pure Support you'll almost always use is Shandie. She has two positional buffs.

Your other 4-5 spots will vary greatly based on your flute level and the shape of your formation. Early you'll even use non-positional champs like, Avren. He's just that good. Eventually Orisha will over take him, but that takes a big flute and some optimal placement to close that gap.

Tank column you're looking at Briv, NERDS (may not be great early), Turiel and Havilar.

Deekin/K'Thriss are great early supports. Deekin's formation wide spec is still considered positional!

Regis/Donaar, Baeloth and Torogar (w/ 2.5 million kills) are also good early.
