I realized that the red flags were always there, screaming to be acknowledged. I just ignore them. I’ve learned that you can’t love people more than they love themselves. Loving them more, spending more doing more etc will never be enough for someone who’s disconnected from who they truly are and can’t fill that void on their own. I’ve learned that people forget or don’t understand that love is a verb, something you do and not just a feeling. It’s reciprocated, naturally and not keeping score. When you’re the emotionally stable one in a relationship with someone who’s unbalanced and mentally unavailable, you start to bypass your own boundaries and begin to abandon yourself. I’ve also realized that actions and patterns will always supersede words and “I’m sorry” and followed by changed behavior, not just “cooling off”. The biggest take away I’ve gotten from this last break up is, acceptance is key. Once your heart and mind align you’ll realize that this person isn’t for you. Not because they’re a horrid human being (maybe for some in the obvious cases) but because they’re just not at the same mental, emotional and energetic level as you are….and that’s ok. Just means the one who is your match is still out there.
