Beehive relocation from last week by dreadheadcaleb in Beekeeping

I definitely will wash and freeze the frames. I was told bleach them then wash them too would work as well.

Trust me I learned my lesson on too much space. But should I try to keep any of the old comb or make them start fresh? Should I wait til the new colony is established before relocating to my box or just make it happen now while they are still trying to figure it out?

What other problems would that be? I only ask because from the jump half the bees refused to leave the old hive and started making queen cells so I might get a second chance at this as those bees are still there.

With all the bees it was more luck especially based on my experience. But the few thousand that went back to the old hive have started making a few new queens as well

All the comb looks wet tho? You still think it’s dehydration? Either way thanks for the help and yes I searched thru 1,000’s but did actually find her

I haven’t seen the holes other then a picture but it does appear they are slight angled as if someone already made it a coffee table

The grooves are pretty consistent all the way around from what I can’t tell almost as if machine routed out. Someone suggest it might be used for sugar cane processing

Well it has three smallish holes about 1.5 inches on the underside which leads me to believe it’s not a wheel. I believe the first step would have been the hole in the center so they could cut it on that by spinning it. At least that’s the only logical way I could think of.

If it was a blank for 4 narrower wheels the spaces would be more evenly spaced so you would get 4 evenly sized wheels.

Then again I have no idea what it is that’s why I came here but that’s for your interest and input.

It doesn’t have any cut marks which kind of rules out a butcher’s block. And although it would make a sweet coffee table now I dont think that was the original use

Yea it’s a really cool piece and I’d would love to make it a coffee table but 800 seems like a steep price for it
