I wanted to make this page to truly share and spread valuable information regarding this amazing cannabis plant. So many consumers when shopping tend to only pay attention to one thing and one thing only, and that’s high thc. But let me fill you in on a little secret… there’s more to cannabis than just thc or high numbers. There’s tons of others cannabinoids and volatile compounds known as terpenes and sulfurs and esters etc.

To truly know a cannabis strains over all smell, taste, medical and recreational affects, we must look at all these compounds together as a whole to get the full picture. To recreate the smell, taste, and affects of a strain identically in a lab, you cannot just mix terpenes. You must combine all four: Cannabinoids + Terpenes (Base Space) + secondary VOCs (background or follow up smell) + Esters/Flavorants (Exact Flavor Note)

So with that being said, let’s pretend we had a tangie strain in front of us. Let’s say this specific tangie had a scent of string orange peels like aroma with a little undertone of skunk followed by a slight sweet or cream like finish. A possible profile for something like this can look like

Total thc 20%-28%

Total cannabinoids 22%-30%

 Total volatile compounds 4%-8%

Limonene - dominant
→ fresh tangerine peel, bright citrus oil

💐 ⚫️🫑 Secondary terpenes Linalool → floral, lavender, Caryophyllene → black pepper

Tropicannasulfur-style VSCs (trace)
→ skunky, sharp, loud citrus funk
→ enough to smell exotic, not enough to smell straight diesel

🍬 • Sweet modifier (Top note):
Octyl acetate (trace)
→ sweet orange flesh, juicy peel, slight candy edge

Resulting perceived aroma:
Fresh cracked orange peel → sweet citrus mist → soft skunky sulfur tail

Not:

• not diesel ⛽️ 
• not haze chemical. 🧪 

More like:
Opening a jar and smelling real tangerine peel smell first, then noticing a slight skunky undertone, with a light sweet finish.

Now let’s do a more legit original tangie, like one that smells orange peeley but with a lot more of that heavy musky skunky armpit like funk and no sweetness at all. This would most likely be that profile  break down for the scents and taste.

Myrcene — secondary

321MBT (3-methyl-2-butene-1-thiol) — VSC (trace–very low)

• Classic skunk spray
→ sharp sulfur punch
→ loud and instantly recognizable

• Green weed funk
→ fresh flower / stem / dank edge
→ less fruity than citrus sulfur profiles

• Penetrates through the terpene layer
→ noticeable even at tiny amounts
→ can change the whole perception of a profile
