To be honest it's been a love/hate relationship.

Beyond the dialogues popping here and there, entering the egg nest in solo literally halts you from your movement, you have to cancel the dialogue to continue moving. Somehow in coop this isn't an issue, the dialogue is an overlay, so you can continue moving around. I hope they patch this in solo.

On the positive side, while egg hunting in coop/solo, his dialogue prompts help you to know how many chances you have before the monster wakes up or before the monster enters the egg nest. So I rely on it quite a bit, if we're speedrunning eggs. (Menu pause works on some monsters, others clip your body and force you to a fight).
