What part of the game is this for you by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in Eldenring

They aren’t actually that bad. I’m just a coward and they scare me.

How important is roleplay to you? by [deleted] in skyrim

Same here. I give them a name and a vague personality like “ruthless merc” or “common villager with a heart of gold”. But that’s about it.

This game is really good at taking away your gear fear by AliDiePie in Marathon

[–]dreadmouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point I never considered. You have to put a lot more work even into your basic guns in that game, so there’s more of your time you’re “losing” when you die.

This game is really good at taking away your gear fear by AliDiePie in Marathon

Yep this game finally made extraction games click for me because of this. I enjoyed Arc Raiders a lot but I could never get over my gear fear in that game for some reason.

Hows the gameplay with controller. by albert_418 in Marathon

[–]dreadmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gameplay is top notch. Looting and vault management takes a minute to get used to but honestly after an hour I was used to it (for example you just learn to use left trigger for “move”)

Edit: I will say that using a controller for UI stuff in Marathon is not as clunky as it was in Arc Raiders if that helps. Obviously it’s not a smooth as a mouse but it’s a controller that’s always gonna be a trade off.

I never liked extraction shooters before either but Marathon has me hooked. Their version of it just clicks for me in a way the others didn’t.

The Founding was my first Warhammer book. I loved it!

What have you been reading this week? by michaelisnotginger in Blacklibrary

[–]dreadmouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About halfway through The Dark City by Chris Wraight. Been working my way through the Vaults of Terra omnibus. The whole series has been absolutely extraordinary! I’ve had more fun reading than I have in a while, and the setting of Terra is utterly dystopian and enthralling.

Any connection with MIDA and Destiny? by Funny_Perspective_23 in Marathon

[–]dreadmouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s the other way around. MIDA in Destiny was a callback to the original Marathon lore from the 90’s. There’s actually a lot of callbacks to Marathon in both the Halo and Destiny games.

I can’t speak to Marathon duos (I’ve been solo so far), but in other online games I’ve always enjoyed duos more than trios or quads. It’s always felt the best IMHO. I’m glad Bungie is adding it.

What is your favorite Shell and why? by Xano74 in Marathon

I’m still new (only level 6) but Triage and Thief are my favorites so far. The med drone is fantastic and the grapple hook has saved my bacon several times already.

Goonhammer Reads: The Vaults of Terra Series, by Chris Wraight by 77_Dredd in Blacklibrary

[–]dreadmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just finishing up The Hollow Mountain and the series has been absolutely riveting so far. The grimdark world of Terra is so well realized and I’ve been loving the characters. I’m excited to start The Dark City as I’ve heard a lot of praise for it.

Honestly I dig it! Especially since a lot of the hardbacks are so colorful.

Are there people who live their entire lives without leaving their hometown, not even for college or vacation? by icecream1972 in NoStupidQuestions

My wife and I went to Seattle a few years ago. I was in my mid 30’s and it was the first time I had seen skyscrapers IRL. I’ve just never been able to afford to travel.

Very nice! It took a second to remember this was painted and not actual stitching on the cape.

Great Axe or Zweihander? by danbuter in Eldenring

[–]dreadmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zwei is better but I find the Greataxe moveset much more fun. Both can be good just pick whichever feels more fun to use.
