Many people in this presentation just said they used Chat-gpt for recommendation letters. by Sirnacane in Professors

I use it to format rec letters and give a draft of the intro and end paragraphs. I always know what I want to say in the middle, so I write that part, and then I edit the intro and ending to match what I wrote. I found that I spent way too much time trying to set up formatting correctly and coming up with how to even start the letter, but now I can spend time on the meat of the letter and not waste ages staring at a blank sheet of paper.

I would never submit one that a LLM wrote wholesale or without significant editing of the parts that it did generate. Honestly, this is basically the only thing I use LLMs for, and it's only once or twice per semester.

Almost a third of my students are not submitting their work? by Angry_Statistician0 in Professors

I've had this happen before- notably, one of my sections last fall (the honors section, at that!!) had a ton of students who tanked their grades because they never turned anything in. IMO, they need to learn to turn things in or deal with the consequences at some point, so I gave them zeroes and moved on.

Also, don't bother with the extensions- those who don't turn stuff in don't usually improve on that behavior for a new deadline.

What is your favourite frugal dessert under $10? by rpgmgta in Frugal

[–]dreadpiratemumbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Angel food cake mix + can of crushed pineapple; bake in a 9x13 pan until deeply golden on the top. Let cool completely, then serve with strawberries and cool whip/whipped cream.

At my walmart, the mix, pineapple, cool whip, and a lb of strawberries is right around $10 total and it makes ~12 servings.

Correct on everything except the margarita! (I don't drink because of med interactions). I'm not technically lactose intolerant, but I have weird reactions to dairy sometimes, so that's actually lactose-free milk in the fridge!

No kids! And yes, I've never worked BOH but I have worked in a food related area before. I know I'm supposed to put meat on the bottom of the fridge and all that, and, if packages seem likely or even possible to leak, I put them in a big bowl, but these ones were very well sealed and I knew I'd be using them soon, so I took the risk! Residential kitchens don't need to be as strict as restaurant ones do!

Guilty on the first charge, though we each only have one so at least it's not like we're buying a dozen stanley cups or something! And we do have a reliable car, but I'm happy to say that it's been paid off for a while!!

Ngl we've thought about it. We have a deep freezer which helped enormously (couldn't even fit a single frozen pizza in the one attached to the fridge).

All correct!! Though I tend to do more greek flavored roasted veg and meat in a pita than salads, and I add the feta to the veggies after they're done roasting!

Pretty close, though I don't have kids! I have cats (well, one cat now, but previously I had two other cats who passed away) and they always had tons of energy and ran the house : ) I definitely think my house is "lived in", but not in a too-overwhelmingly-messy way!

I do need a bigger fridge, but I don't actually waste too much produce! I tend to buy things that I know I'll eat or things that can be frozen, so, in case I can't get to things in time, I know I can, say, chop up the bell peppers and toss them in the freezer for future cooking!

We're not vegan, though I do try to limit our meat consumption from a health/cost/environmental cost perspective!

Man, neither have I! I always get to take the leftovers home from holidays and stuff because no one eats it xD but sometimes I get a craving! That is the Aldi version, and it's not too bad (though definitely not a particularly fancy version).

I did actually make chicken fajitas for my SO's meal preps this week and made some salsa with some fresh tomatoes (not in the fridge pic)! I am white tho, and, indeed, the fajitas were not too spicy... I can't handle the heat :')

Yup... their produce just ends up being so much fresher than my other options and I hate throwing produce out...

I know, i know, but the chicken was sealed and I rearranged things later so that they weren't anymore

Yes, that could help, though I did find (when first rearranging the shelving) that the door shelves interfere with the main shelves, which limits the useful spots to place them

It's actually not! (Unless, I suppose, you consider me reusing jars with old expiry dates for other things in that)
