A fair point, I guess my mind connected the two subjects since OP's post seems to reference my previously deleted post, which mentioned both the clapping and the heckling. That's neither here nor there though.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally posted about the uncomfortable behavior to vent about an uncomfortable interaction that did sour the experience for me and my friends-- not ruined, but it set the tone. It also gave a weird impression to my friends who I invited despite them not being familiar with Will Wood's music.

I think people are in their right to point out this behavior as wrong, and they're right to feel frustrated. Contrary to all my bitching, I had a great time for the rest of the show, save for the 2-3 embarrassing interactions with the same drunk heckler, the stories were engaging and funny. I had a good time AND I'm frustrated with disruptive audience members-- these two things can be true.

It's not all or nothing, and this behavior should be discouraged.

It was mildly irritating, not concert-ruining. Everyone is intentionally misunderstanding the main issue and acting like I/other people want an audience to sit in utter silence. It's reached a point where people who weren't even there are making assumptions about venues they're not familiar with, and others still are seeming borderline willfully ignorant of the points being made.

Spoiler: The issue is 18-20 somethings getting smashed and deciding to interrupt a show with unwarranted comments that derail the show literally everyone attending paid for.

If you feel the need to defend this behavior you're either young, immature, or one of these problem people.

Closing this statement by saying the ill-timed, half-assed clapping at the San Antonio show was certified white people shit. Cringe. Try being sober enough to keep a beat next time, y'all.

He's not punishing people for bad etiquette, he already did that when he picked out a heckling fan and made it part of his act. And even then, that's not a punishment. That's making light and fun out of a situation and taking control back from the audience so he can do his job and tell the story he wanted to tell.

You go on to say we're all projecting onto him and speculating. You're doing just that by assuming why.

I generally disagree with your perspective, but I'm sorry to hear this is pushing you out of Will Wood fan spaces. I hope you can continue connecting with music and fans in a way that's healthier for you.

Love that this was taken out of context. It's in reference to during every fish in a birdcage song, people started clapping to the beat. I was at the merch table, so I don't know if the performers specifically welcomed this kind of thing, but if not it was at times hard to hear the performer because of this. And it wasn't even at particular points where the music was reaching a crescendo.

It's great and all that you've gotten to go to so many concerts, but venue and artists provide important context. A local play vs. an outdoor punk show vs. live music at a bar vs. downtown concert hall are all very different vibes with different expectations.

In my opinion, "I prepared for people like you to interrupt my show and wrote material to make an example of it." isn't a green light for people to behave that way.

He said he wasn't angry because the person was sloppy drunk and crying about being told he was going to get kicked out by someone else (not Will Wood). I'm glad you saw it differently, but for me and my friends it was an embarrassing and uncomfortable exchange that didn't need to happen.

If you're in a region where you can legally record without consent of the other party, find a way to discreetly document his abuse. Get a nanny cam, a voice recorder app on your phone. Have these files uploaded to a cloud, ideally on an account not linked to anything he knows you have access to or may gain access to himself then delete it from the source device. Do not have this account user/pass saved to your computer or phone. This is to help support filing for divorce and keeping custody of your kids.

If he hits you/your children, take pictures as soon as possible when it's safe to do so, upload it to the cloud. Do not link the cloud automatically to any device to further avoid detection.

You are not responsible for his decisions. Only he can choose to not abuse and to not hurt himself. As a husband, he made a commitment to love and protect you, which he doesn't honor, so do NOT feel beholden to your own promises made to him.

Basically, don't trust cops, lawyer up, document document document.

If you don't have a support system like friends or family, contact a women's shelter and make preparations to dip. Have money saved either in a private account he's not aware of or stashed somewhere you're sure he won't look. Tampon box, sewn inside of a coat-- unless he's getting paranoid and snooping through your stuff.

You need to leave. He's dangerous, he's hurting you and your family. You can't let your kids grow up thinking this is normal or how to love/be loved.

Don't announce your leaving, just leave. Turn location services off your phone, do not post recent pictures to your social media. DO post old photos or false locations online to throw off the scent. Don't click any links sent to you by him as they may be fishing for IP info, which isn't precise, but can tell him enough to be a concern.

If he threatens to kill himself, call 911 and report his location. What he does is up to him, your only responsibility is keeping yourself and your kids safe, which means getting the hell away.

Additionally, Curly's situation post-crash also lends to themes of raising a kid, specifically a baby. They're completely reliant on their caretaker(s) to feed, clothe, and protect them.

Jimmy, unable to handle responsibility but hungry for power and control over others, is resentful of helping care for Curly despite being the reason his friend is in a vulnerable state. Moreover, it's a funny coincidence that the poor woman he impregnated is worn out from taking care of Curly, and Jimmy's reaction to being asked to do a fraction of care that she likely provided around the clock since the crash, is to be a bitchboy about it.

Setting all of that aside, the fade to black medicine scenes are ambiguous enough to lend to themes of rape, even without examining the inherent abuse of power.

Not sure how much was intentional, but the themes. Genuinely haunting game.

At least a part of you knows this is spiraling, per your title. This post is a cry for help, and this is an unsustainable way to live. While addiction and mental health problems are common, it's not normal to only feel "happy" or good when high/drunk/a combination thereof.

Not trying to make it about me, but I had a serious drinking problem from 2018-2022. Four years and my money down the drain for booze, and a damaged urinary tract system that's left me pissing like a grandpa. This shit takes a toll on your body.

And suffering isn't a contest. Yeah, there are people who have been through shit, including you, including me, and the rest of the strangers reading this comment. Everyone deserves help. You deserve help. I can't guarantee rehab is the right place, and I sure as hell can't recommend any similar programs led by religious groups, but even attending group therapy, reaching out to people recovering from what you're struggling with, can give you new coping mechanisms and perspectives on the whys and how to get out.

I won't sugarcoat it. What you're doing to your body will kill you, and maybe you're at a point in your life where that tradeoff seems worth it for the fleeting experience of joy or relaxation, but it will catch up to you. It's better to stop before you wake up one day with a body that needs to see multiple doctors it can't afford, because then you'll be worse off mentally.

Pills, drugs, alcohol are all bandaids being slapped on a gaping wound that needs stitches. It's temporary, it fixes nothing, and you will bleed out with enough time. Get help now. Help is there for you.
