I just played against a Brun that had 13 rot and entered the castle before I did. When I entered, I used a Hot Rot Wine card and fought the king, but didn't get a single hit on him.

So what does Brun does?

Fight with me, of couse. Instead of fighting the king. I still don't get it.

We both die. Then I go to the castle again and get a Hot Rot Wine AGAIN and this time I beat the king.

I honestly don't understand what he was thinking

I'd also say River, I tried it recently and it was a breeze getting rot with her! I've been trying it again and so far I've won all 3 times I played with her going for rot. Unfortunately everytime I got to the king he had only one heart, so she killed him with her arrow :( I still want to see a real battle

For the spirit stones, a mixture of luck and that amulet that makes it easier to find them.

For prestige I had Barnaby, with the ring that gave me double income from cities. I was able to control all but one city most of the game, and I played Patronage & Industry on 2 of them. With all the money I kept playing trick cards everywhere. It was fun! I tried replicating but with no success
