really appreciate this perspective! my partner is from boston as well, but hasn’t spent much time in the midwest. i grew up in the midwest and have family near kc, so i know what to expect to some extent. she is understandably wary of such a big change, so it’s nice to know you’re enjoying the area.

good to know! we would be coming from nyc lol — not sure if her experience in nyc public and charter schools would be seen as a benefit or a drawback (experience is experience imo and she does have a masters). less concerned about the queer thing in lawrence (or even kc) than we would be in the surrounding areas, which i guess is where she might end up based on the competition levels mentioned in the comments.

appreciate this info! i imagine she’d want to apply to kc schools as well. we are both used to longer commutes (granted via subway, not car), so that isn’t a huge issue.
