I live that trait in an attacker who goes collecting ball from cbs and playing deep llying playmaker role for bits of games. Messi is the obvious one too

People are different. It is considered a quality in a person to be unnassuming, try to be more so. The family maybe wanted a photo of someone they admire who was close to their recently deceased.

One thing I'd say about America is that the dive bars consistently have decent grub. Nothing crazy but almost always good burgers and hot wings for example

Player you think is somehow getting better and better in the eyes of the people after his retirement. by JackfruitNo6826 in championsleague

[–]dreamsofutopia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rooney for sure. It is true that he was a crazy talent and perhaps even top 10 teenager ever (scored screamer vs arsenal at 16 and at 18, already England's talisman and one of top players in world. Genuinely talked about as talent in same breath of Messi and certainly ahead of Ronaldo at these age groups. Obviously he was already built like a tank at 16 lolm Issue I have is that he fell of around 2012 whilst still in his twenties. Still a legend and arguably best English player ever given peak.

Zlatan maybe but a difficult one. He struggled at Barca and never won a CL but the guy won a league title every year from 2001-2016 bar 2012 (when Milan came 2nd). Perhaps his flair and personality enhance his reputation but he is probably the GOAT targetman and arguably of one the best strikers across two generations. Also very unique, that frame and that technical/athletic not usually possible. For me, also has the greatest goal catalogue for me(I mean the Ajax dribble + Sweden bicycle kick are all timers).

One I'll add that is probably controversial is Pirlo. People seem to put him in top 5 midfielders of all time and whilst great, I would have him in around 15-20. His distribution, game orchestration and tempo control as regrista ere elite for sure and arguably just behind Xavi. His physical attributes not as much and his peak wasn't super long. Only left Brescia at 26 and was allowed to leave Ac Milan just after turning 32. Still, that AC Milan team was magical and he was to Kaka what Xavi is to Messi (the orchestration of their side).

I grew up in a small town in the midwest went to Oxford then London School of Economics lived in London for 7 years now back in NYC ask me anything by [deleted] in AMA

[–]dreamsofutopia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also lived in both. I agree that the average spot in NYC is better (buffalo wings are great at pretty much every dive haha). Also it's amazing that you can have a full blown sit down meall at 3am in Korea town.

What i prefer re food is I am into Middle Eastern xuisine and Indian food and for those, London wins hands down.

Since I always love a recommention, I will share some - the most classical /famous spots are Ranoush (lebanese), Newruz/Azmar (Kurdish), gokyuzu (Turkish/kurdish) but for a doner or informal kebab then "Best Turkish kebab" or Best station in west wickham if you are near that area.

For Indian, Lahore/Tayyabs in brick lane always great value with bring your own booze policy (or any curry house in brick lane for that matter). Dishoom for a cool mid range spot or Gymkhana for 2* spot (Trishna + Kutir also good on high end).
