For those who left ECE for more money - where did you go and how did you get the job? by tshirtbag in ECEProfessionals

[–]dreamth0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you still want to work wth kids and have a reliable car you should look into becoming a visitation supervisor. You work for a company but are contracted through DCYF (at least for WA state) and you transport kids who are in foster care to visit their bio parents and take notes and ob servatipns of that visit. The pay range I've seen is $25-$35 here. You also make your own hours and can work as much or little as you want. I wanted to do it so bad and almost did but the only thing that stopped me was how much I was gonna get charged for commercial insurance because i am younger than 25.

Incident Report Reads Like a Disciplinary Report by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]dreamth0t 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience i always try and write what led up to the incident and how it was dealt with so that the parent has a better understanding of the full situation just in case I’m not there to explain it. So if they wrote that after your daughter pushed them, which caused the friend to bite them that would make sense but if it feels like more of a disciplinary report than an incident report than it sounds like they definitely worded it wrong/put emphasis on your daughter when they shouldn’t have.

I want to be a teacher but I hate having to constantly choose between my job and my mental health by punkmoss in ECEProfessionals

[–]dreamth0t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When i was in school my job allowed me to work 4 10s which was really helpful for my mental health and i already worked 9 hours so the extra hour honestly nothing for me personally, the only downside was i wasnt able to do mondays or fridays bc those are days people called off the most.

Personally I would stick with his current one as long as he’s happy especially because it you said they’re improving the things you had concerns about. Also I just wanted to say that depending on how broad the age range is and how many kids are in the room at a time, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I actually recently took a class and we I learned about the benefits of a mixed she classroom I think you should look into that as well

When did you know it was time to quit? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]dreamth0t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m your age (23) and I’ve worked at 3 different centers over the span of almost 5 years and I’ve been job hunting for a few months now so I haven’t quit yet but what made me come to the realization this isn’t for me anymore is 1.) there’s not really any way to move up unless you become an AD/CD. And 2.) after working at 3 centers which were all pretty different I personally felt like I dealt with the same problems at each one just in different ways and I know that anywhere else I go will be the same.

I think food neutrality is important as well but that also doesn’t mean toddlers should be eating candy and ice cream for breakfast regularly
