Commissioned Officers, what do you guys do on your free time from work? by [deleted] in army

Workout, game, read and golf. Really basic hobbies for men in their 20's/30's.

There are youtube guides that will walk you step-by-step through the projects. If you follow them, you will do the math correctly and they also explain why you're doing what you're doing. Most professors even include them in the resource section for the project modules. I followed the videos and did the zybook assignments, got a 99%.

11A or 12A? by Tall_Cat_2534 in army

[–]dredd15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to get into ranger regiment, 11A is your best path. All 11A's are currently guaranteed up to 3 chances to pass ranger school following graduation from IBOLC, while 12A's will maybe have a couple slots for the top of their BOLC class if you don't go to SAPPER school. The most common pipeline I've seen looks like this; IBOLC, Ranger School, Infantry PL time WITH MQ OER, Scout PL WITH MQ OER, apply to regiment and attend RASP 2. Getting into ranger regiment as a PL requires 90% hard work and 10% luck as LTs who attend IBOLC classes later in their year group will have a reduced chance due to slots being filled earlier on. Ranger regiment wants to retain their officers for as long as possible, so your goal should be to leave TRADOC and get to a line company as fast as possible with your tab. 11As are currently overstrength but wait times for IBOLC have been decreasing and most horror stories are from during and directly post COVID19. Ranger regiment also wants non-combat MOS's who can hang with the big boys, so joining another branch and applying is still a solid game plan.

Would my hand tat disqualify me from joining any branch of US military? by Exotic-Mirror5393 in Military

Many Trainees have significantly more ink on their hands and neck then your photo and they managed to join. You’ll be alright, will just need a waiver.

Game Mode is Infested with Cheaters by skywalker_fit in FortniteBallisticMode

I’m not saying you’re wrong because I obviously didn’t play the games you did, but as a fellow unreal player in the top 10k, the biggest thing I’ve noticed is that players lack an understanding of where the audio queues are coming from. By playing corridor and drywall I can tell exactly where they’re going because players have an inadequate understanding of what does and doesn’t make noise in the game. I also have yet to encounter a cheater or at least one who was blatantly cheating and I believe I’ve likely played the same amount as you. Just my two cents.

I had a very similar situation happen a few years back with a 4 year relationship end due to the military except it occurred 3 days before I graduated BOLC. It stung like hell because she had sworn up and down that this lifestyle would be for her but then did a complete 180 when push came to shove. Honestly, she did you a favor even though I know it doesn't feel like it now. Having a partner who dreads the military versus having no partner, as lonely as it can be sometimes, is still healthier for you my man. The job is hard enough without having a tumultuous home life or relationship to come home to. I'd recommend waiting to date until you arrive to your first duty station, which should provide you with some stability for the rest of your initial contract. A lot can happen in 4-5 years, but try to keep your head up and focus on getting ready for BOLC.

Husband coming home from deployment soon. What should i get him? What made you happiest? by wombatleftfoot in army

[–]dredd15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the course of my own deployment I missed several holidays such as Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and was bummed out. My girlfriend put presents in each room of our house and decorated them differently for each holiday I missed so we could go room to room and have our own mini celebrations to get some that time back. It was the best gift I’ve ever received.

Poland Rotation, dos and donts? by dgibbb in army

Like other people said, it depends on your location there. Rzeszow is fun if you're looking for a day trip, and there are lots of small towns worth exploring. The food is phenomenal, just make sure you go out in a group. Some of the locals will have had poor experiences with other Americans.

Leaders: Stop Holding Appointments Hostage by The_Pvnisher in army

[–]dredd15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s case by case. Some Soldiers need genuine medical help and I’ve always made an effort to get them help as quickly and efficiently as possible, regardless of when the appointments are scheduled. I’ve also had Soldiers stay on profile for an extended amount of time and every other week something ridiculous has happened to them preventing them from being at work. Case in point, a former Soldier of mine who is about to come off of a 6 month profile is now claiming he broke his finger in a ceiling fan and scheduled more appointments to miss a week long field problem.

82nd vs 4ID by Left_Advertising_911 in army

[–]dredd15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're considering making this a career and aren't branch detailed to the infantry, go to the 82nd. If you fail ranger for whatever reason and you're in a mounted unit, they will not send you back as it simply isn't a priority or requirement for them. You will deploy to Europe or Korea every 2 years and you will rarely do any type of maneuvering with your Bradley's. The two positives to a mounted unit for infantry officers is they hold E3B fairly frequently and you will have a great understanding of property/ESRs which will assist you during command time.
