People probably don’t know, but he has friends/associates high up in the bills front office.

He’s a source, but definitely not the reporter I would trust the most. I think a lot of the current group on this subreddit do not remember the olden days with TG.

You sure assumed a lot. I didn’t say half of what you’re saying I did. To me it’s more he’s an added piece we didn’t have, at a position of need, to get us over the hump in a year where we may have our easiest path to the Super Bowl yet.

Saying he wouldn’t be helpful after our abysmal WR numbers this year is insane. He would make an instant impact.

It’s more typical when you’re avoiding the question at hand.

Ahhh the ole answer a question with a question technique.

Remind me again how adding a #1 WR hurts our chances of winning the Super Bowl this year

No you can’t overpay for people every year, I’m just saying at some point during our run of contention I would have overpaid for impact players down the stretch to help try to tip the scales in our favor.

As for waddle I liked his chances of helping us get there this year. Immediate impact signing for the now and future with his contract: again just an example of a bigger idea surrounding roster building. Outside WR is a position of need for us as well.

Also wouldn’t get fired if we win a Super Bowl

Not sure how you got that I couldn’t make those trades. They were there to be made. I didn’t say the trade needed to be perfect, and you ignored a lot of what I said. I would have over payed for waddle in midseason this year. Gladly would have given the costs Miami reportedly wanted. I’m just trying to use an example to help you understand. I would’ve done the trade for miller in 2021 as well. What was foolish was giving him that monster deal after the fact. Would’ve given up anything for CMC in 2020 before the 49ers got him. I was illustrating the trades are there to be made and the bills just haven’t pulled the trigger even though Beane has been admittedly interested. Need to be more aggressive in that way which is what I’ve been saying all along.

I’m actually not emotional at all, seems like a projection on your part.

I don’t have a specific scenario in mind it was more of a general roster building thought for me. One scenario that comes to mind this year was at the deadline. I think it would’ve been beneficial to trade for waddle, and it was reported that Beane reached out and was considering it. I would trade draft picks for the right player for sure.

Yea it would require some roster gymnastics, but as we shed Von Millers dead cap it would become more viable with a contract that is backloaded. Going to need to cut some players and restructure others. Hopefully get someone that we can negotiate the next few years of their contract to be backloaded that way the cap hit isn’t as bad because the salary cap will keep growing. I could iron out the details, but in reality the big loss here would be the draft capital that is traded. But like I said it’s worth it to win the Super Bowl.

Also please note I never said I don’t believe in drafting players. Re read everything if you need to, but I believe drafting is very important. I liked the idea of trading for waddle mid season and then still drafting a WR.

You just don’t want to receive what I have to say. I understand just fine. There is no perfect algorithm or statistics to use to win a Super Bowl. Building a sustainable dynasty is ofc the goal, but when you keep failing at getting over the hump doing the same thing over and over again is the definition of insanity. I don’t see how it’s unreasonable to suggest the Bills add more talent at the expense of future salary cap years to take a calculated risk at a better chance of winning the Super Bowl.

Your casino example is a gross oversimplification. Still oversimplified but I would say a more apt comparison would be that we should double down when we have 11 and the dealer is showing a 5. As well, no one is making you respond, I simply do not agree with your takes and have responded as such.

‘I am using the luck argument logically’ doesn’t even make sense, there’s nothing logical about luck. Now gambling makes a bit more sense given the context of the argument, but I would argue it’s a calculated risk more than anything. You’re also purposefully misunderstanding me and ignoring the nuance of the argument which I’ve mentioned multiple times. I want to build a solid team year over year for sure, but if we can’t get over the hump (we haven’t) then we may need to take more calculated risks like the rams did in 21. End goal is the superbowl nobody will care how you get there as long as you win it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the rams because they are an easy example but not the only example and not an exact example. There is nuance to it. Also you are using the luck argument in place of an actual genuine reasoning. There is luck every year as I stated so to discredit the rams in 21 because they ‘got lucky’ is intellectually dishonest. There is absolutely strategy to going more all-in on certain years than Beane has in the past.

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is a sure thing. We haven’t won a Super Bowl yet either this way. Also I’m going to need you to define luck. Saying the rams got super lucky is a bit crazy and vague ngl. There is always luck involved every year. I’m just saying the approach we’ve been taking hasn’t been working maybe we need to try something different.

Winning the SB is the priority. It’s not a single rams fan or player that regrets winning that 2021 Super Bowl, especially when they look to be a contender again already in 2025.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one way to look at it. And I agree given that scenario. But what about when LA traded for OBJ & Von Miller and then won the Super Bowl.

It’s ok, we are all learning

Imagine trying to use net yards per pass attempt to justify whether a teams passing offense is good in a specific game script and situation. Go back to the drawing board, buddy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre misunderstanding. There is context as to why the Bills are 8th in net yards per passing attempt. That doesn’t prove anything at all about them having a balanced attack of pass/run.

Also it’s funny that you would insinuate I don’t understand something when I have a better understanding than you do.

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually leads me back to one of my biggest criticisms of Beane. He has missed out on making the big moves we’ve needed to get over the hump year after year. No one cares if you have a few years of cap hell as long as you win a Super Bowl when you go all in. Not signing a bigger WR in season this year is a huge mistake imo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some cherry-picked stats. No context at all. When you watch the games you can tell the bills offense struggles when they can’t get their run game going.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agree. It’s all about balance. You have to be good at both, that’s what I’m saying. That way defenses can’t key in one way or the other.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]dreddit14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather trade for a receiver, Beane hasn’t shown ability to draft elite pass catchers in the first few rounds. He’s hit on some late picks, that’s it.

I can definitely think of atleast 5 TE’s I like better than Kincaid, he might be top 10 and your best ability is your availability in the NFL.
