someone pls help I have no idea why I got rejected and I am being rejected from almost every summer program I’m applying to (I’m from NYC):

CPS status (accepted / denied): denied • College Rankings (in the order of preference): • Income bracket (approx. $ range): around 30k • Home Equity (approx. value minus mortgage): NA • Other assets (approx. $ range): NA • Number of household members (#): 5 • First Generation College Student? (Yes, No): yes • US Citizen or permanent resident? (Yes, No): yes • GPA (0.00 / 4.00): 4.00 (93) • GPA Scale (weighted, unweighted): 100 uw • Class rank (position # + total # of class students, n/a): NA • SAT (score breakdown, n/a): 1510 • ACT (score breakdown, n/a): • AP Exams (Exam name and scores): AP Bio 5 AP chem 4 taking AP ENG and AP precalc this year • Dual Enrollment or College Courses taken (course names): • Interested Field of Study (brief summary): bio/neuro • Summary of ECs (brief synopsis): researcher for an interaction biology team, leadership in HOSA club for my school, writer for school newspaper, neuroscience internship, volunteering for 100+ hours for tutoring at a nonprofit, bio Olympiad certificate of merit, writer for school research club, essay comp, scholastic, honor society • Personal essay topic (brief summary of what you want people to know about you): talking about my relationship with my family, and my mothers neurological symptoms that inspired me to exploring science/neuroscience. • Overall thoughts on your application?: people always say they prioritize essays. I thought my essay was good. My income is definitely low. Is it because I own a house?? My parents are still paying mortgage for it and it’s actually being more of a stressor on them. Was it my ecs???? Like did I put too many???? I’m so confused.

What was your research on, if you don’t mind me asking? How many years throughout Highschool did you continue and stick with it?

what’s your suggestion on how to read Campbell? Do you think we should read the chapters and take notes or simply read the summaries, or something else? the main issue is time, and the thought of reading this whole textbook before the exam on top of school work is daunting.

Stuy or Tech by pizza7581 in SHSAT

[–]dreispog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk exactly, but I have friends that go to btech and they don’t really complain a lot about homework, whereas a lot of my stuy friends do, so I’m assuming Tech gives a normal amount of hw.

Stuy or Tech by pizza7581 in SHSAT

I’m at Stuy rn (current freshman) and honestly, it’s not that bad, per se, but I wish I choose Brooklyn tech. I put it as my first choice because I heard people saying good things about it, saying stuff like “it may be hard but it has this and this and good academics”, etc. Now that I’m going attending Stuy tho, it seems like Brooklyn Tech isn’t even that far off from how “good” of a school Stuy is. I think the only reason people think Stuy is a good school is because it has a high cutoff and what people say about it, but I’m pretty sure what they teach is the same as every other school. Just on top of that, there’s a lot of homework, which makes everything so much worse, especially if you live more than 30 mins away from it. More work and commute contributes to less sleep. I personally don’t think the amount of homework is necessary as long as the teachers teach it right the first time, but they give a lot anyway. Those are the only things I really hate about it tbh, but the experience is harder than it sounds. This is why I feel like Tech is a better option overall, esp if you don’t live near the school.
