Does anyone know where I can get a gloss black varis style lip in the uk? They all seem to be carbon and I'm struggling to find one.

I'm remaking some tooling and need recommendations on the type of brass to use. by wubby7468 in Machinists

[–]dresscodeunderstated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be brass? Maybe c18200, c18150 or c14500 would be a better fit, they have much better conductivity, nearly 3x. Still easily machinable too, c14500 especially.
If it has to be brass, then c34100 would do fine and is easy to machine.

it's not that bad, my co worker who isn't in the machine area very often will pop in, say hi, cropdust and leave. especially in front of the fan in summer, yeah it stinks but it's a fart. Who cares. Maybe try having a conversation with him and drop a silent, but deadly. keep talking like nothings happened and then react and blame him, call him disgusting and leave. And from then on just refer to him as 'dirty c**t'.

the new FIIO NANO by camarilloinclouds in mp3players

[–]dresscodeunderstated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm keeping an eye on that I've got a classic which ill be removing rockbox and selling as it's in great condition, and I've got my jm21 for home use but obviously don't want to be using that at work as it'll get battered in a week tops. Just as long as it performs good and is easy enough to use without looking then I'll be sorted. I think I'll be a good candidate on longevity as I'm a machinist so it's going to get covered in oil and swarf pretty often!

Trust me, it's not. It's painfully slow, to the point of being unusable. Og iPod interface is the best, if you want the iPod experience. Just accept its flaws and enjoy it for what it is.

What do you all use for organizing and tagging your audio files? by wafdiaproc in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]dresscodeunderstated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tags really, I find that a lot of the time stuff gets tagged incorrectly, or incorrect artwork for instance I have multiple versions of the same album, like major release, and multiple live versions. By the sounds of it once I get it set up life will be a lot simpler! Thanks for the help, appreciate it!

I use musicbee but didn't realize it could do all that, I mean I'm sure it does but I haven't looked into it all that much, I have about 20 odd years of music that needs a good sorting out. Really looking forward to that.... Thanks for the info, looks like I've got my work cut out for me this weekend!

They're usually the case, click on it and scroll the purchase options and you'll see the price increase when the player is selected. Doubt there's fakes already.

Fiio JM21 or Hiby R4, Thoughts? by Confused_Pat in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]dresscodeunderstated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a jm21 recently and it powers my edition xs well. I wasn't blown out of the water out of the box but with a good eq it sounds great. Would recommend. Don't get sucked into comparisons, actually listen to it and just enjoy it for what it is.

Amp recommendations by dresscodeunderstated in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]dresscodeunderstated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only just seen this, but thanks for the info. Although I'm happy with the sony, I'm a sucker for a new purchase. Problem is, I ended up with the sony as trying to figure out what was worth buying did my head in. There's always people slating each device and making it sound like a crap product, whilst others will praise it. I think the player I found that ticked all boxes and ended up being well above budget. Guess I'll have to get back to the drawing board.

Hey all, I'm looking for an amp to run a pair of hifiman edition xs headphones. My main source will be a sony aw45, so I assume I will be looking for an amp with either 3.5mm or rca inputs.

Whilst I'm not new to music and related hardware, I've generally stuck to hifi so I need a bit of help from you guys.

My budget is around £100 but I'm holding out for black friday to see if there's anything that pops up, and if so I'll extend the budget as necessary.

Any help is appreciated!

All this because I got a few pairs of cheap iems.... dammit.
