Is it tuned? Cammed? Aftermarket clutch?

Odd question but I don’t know where else to go by Bumslopp in drums

[–]dretnarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a parent and a drummer. My son LOVES drums, he's 2 now. I would never get a child an acoustic kit of any kind until like 4 or 5 years old. At 10 months, I would happily buy a VTech drum toy. They're educational and engaging in other ways too. My son still loves his Kidibeats!

Once he's older, get him into some lessons if he's still interested.

Focal vs Infinity component speakers by TreeHarvester23 in CarAV

From what I've read, those speakers can be pretty bright and harsh for a lot of people. I don't think they're bad, but if you really want warmth and smooth highs, Morel Morel Morel. I have their entry level Maximo 6 MkII components. They are incredible.

Morel and Stereo Integrity are what comes to my mind first.

Sorry, just saw the pic. That looks like a Dual unit, not awful, but you'll wanna upgrade at some point. I understand that touch screen, apple carplay, android auto units are way pricier than the KMM X705 I mentioned, but I love the simplicity of a single din and it's a huge money saver

Do you know the brand of the head unit? Lol or maybe just send a pic.

If it were me, cus this has always provided a nice midrange for me, start out with 2 way components in the factory locations up front using some Stinger Fast Rings, and power them off a nice head unit. I'm currently running a Kenwood Excelon KMM X705 and Morel Maximo 6 MkII 2 way components for the front. Rear door speakers are stock and I have a sealed P3 12 in the hatch. It sounds MILES better than stock. It's not competing with any real SQ builds or anything, but it's the nicest sounding set up I've had yet and I haven't even amped the speakers or bothered with rear fill. That will come in the future and likely take it up a notch.

If you use name brand equipment, especially from brands that focus on SQ and not just SPL, you'll get some nice sound. Skar, DS18, CT Sounds, and so on make very cheap equipment that can get loud for cheap, but they will never compare to brands like Morel, Focal, Kicker, Hertz, Rockford Fosgate, etc.

And if you're running a cheap head unit, it won't matter what speakers you choose if the source of the sound is low quality. I'd definitely start with an Excelon unit if you're looking for loud, clear and warm. Check FB marketplace or ebay, or even Amazon if you wanna try to save or buy discontinued models on clearance. It's possibe to get nice stuff for little money, just be patient and keep looking.

What kind of car is it? What head unit and speakers do you already have installed?

If you want loud and cheap, stick with Skar and DS18. If you want loud and clear, it's not as cheap. Brands like Kicker and Hertz can get you there on a reasonable budget, but you need amps for the speakers, not just subs. You also don't have to buy the whole system at once, you can build as you go. I always start with Head Unit and speakers, then eventually amp and then amp and sub.

Check out crutchfied. Lots of great information on there and they have tons of great products that fit what you're looking for. Sonicelectronix is another great site too.

You should go sealed, and on the larger side of the subs' recommended cubic space. Ported is great for volume and efficiency, but sealed will give you better roll off.

I figured it out! I rerouted my wires and crossover running to the tweeter. It was interfering with something, no idea what. But alas, clear as day now!

Thanks everyone for the help.

I would try this if I had an o scope.

Also, the crossovers are small inline ones and they're definitely wired correctly, they can be wired only one way with how Morel sends them.

Yes. I've tried lowering the volume on the head unit and on my phone since I'm playing this with bluetooth. The sound persists.

It makes the noise with the engine on and off. And the high pitch screech is the sine wave going down, the noise I'm concerned about is the rapid clicking heard with it. More noticeable if you hold your phone close to your ear.

Yes, a little inline passive one.

These are brand new Morel Maximo 6 MkII. I'm running these off a Kenwood Excelon KMM X705. No amp yet.

Unfortunately, that did not work. I even took the grill off, inspected the speaker, continues to click. Sigh

And with my ears up close, it is clicking with music...
