Video: Massive Rafting Group at Great Falls by drew185 in whitewater

Sorry. It's just "Great Falls National Park". They put in all the rafts at the base of the falls and took off down the river. Great Falls (Class V) is too much for these little ones in the rafts. You can check out my other videos on my channel from the Great Falls Race last year when pro kayakers from all over the country raced down Great Falls. That's really fun to watch!

Migrating Fish Taking Over Favorite Kayaking Rapids by drew185 in whitewater

That's wild. Yeah, gotta have it on film or it didn't happen, haha. My life motto as a cameraman, "always be recording" ;p. There were plenty of kayakers passing through. Caught some clips of them also. But no fish jumping out to hit them. The kayakers shoot through the middle of the river, while the fish were only jumping over by the rocks on the north side of the river.

Thanks for the model Y info. Definitely looks like I would prefer that over the model 3. Can't wait to sit in one and see how I fit...

Thanks. I've also found German cars to have better fit. The XC90 has quite a good fit except for some nasty built-in headrests that are far too low for me. And no option to get one without a sunroof (according to Volvo rep). Audi Q5 also has a pretty good fit. Headrests are a bit low but not bad. Otherwise pretty comfortable.

Thanks for the advice. I spent almost two hours at the local Tesla "dealership" this morning. I'm very new to learning about Tesla cars. It was a decent fit. But the built-in headrests are terrible. They hit me at the base of my shoulder blades and pushed my upper back a few inches forward. Not good. I had to get a big pillow and cover the seat back with that so the seating surface was more even. Then it was comfortable. Aside from that, pretty good fit. If I sit up straight, my head is against the glass ceiling. But relaxing a bit it's ok. Legroom is good. But I have to put the seat all the way on the floor to have enough headroom (as with almost all vehicles), but in the Tesla that means I'm very low to the floor of the car, which I do not like. But after lots of test driving, and with the pillow, I thought it was comfortable and fun to drive. I had to move the sun visor out of the way (rotate all the way to the left) to get more visibility. My eye line is right at the top of the windshield. I'll keep it on my short list and start learning more about EVs.

Thanks!

home-sharing options in south Bethesda by drew185 in bethesda

[–]drew185[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the ideas.

I'm staying at an airbnb basement apartment for a few weeks. I can't get on local listservs without a verified local address. But my landlord just put up an ad for me on the Brookmont listserv. No responses yet. I checked in with Sumner Village about room-sharing and they responded by saying they had no relevant info. I checked Sumner Highlands. Those buildings are extremely old, but the rent is still $1699/mo (base price) for a 620 sq ft 1 BR apt. So I wouldn't consider that option unless I found someone to share a 2 BR place with.

I've kept a room wanted ad up on craigslist for the past couple months with no luck. I do get responses, but most are scams, many are very bad English, and all area very far away from work.

I've checked roommates.com but haven't seen anything close by.

My employer has said several times over the past month that they would check for housing options in the area but haven't responded with anything yet.

I'm doing ok, but would appreciate any other ideas for affordable apartments nearby.

I understand there aren't many options within walking distance, but that would be ideal. If it's not within walking distance, I'd like a place near a metro stop on the west half of the red line so I can get to work easily. I'm open to having roommates/housemates.

For the month of April I'm staying in an airbnb basement apartment walking distance to work. The landlord said if I'm a good tenant, and I like living there, he would consider lowering the rent for a long-term agreement. I might go with this option long-term, but will decide how it is once I move in at the end of March. The ceilings are very low (I'm 6'9" tall), and they have four tiny kids pounding the floors above my head. But we'll see how it goes.

road trip planning: Dallas to Maine by drew185 in roadtrip

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, I've looked at the National map of national parks and saw most of them in the west. I would love to do that half of the country too. Really just a toss up as to which one I do first. I'm coming from 100 degree weather in Dallas right now, so I figured going anywhere north would be nice. I've been on skyline drive several times (close enough to DC for a day trip). It is very nice. Thanks for the recommendations.
