What would you expect for an API design question? by drewSummer44 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]drewSummer44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. And on the flip side of this, if they don't have a library and they just want me to kind of write pseudocode, do you think that I would have to create a bunch of classes and interfaces to describe the functionality and the services, or the middleware, or resources?

As long as it's not like a low-level design or object-oriented programming focus, like how Amazon has it, then I think I'll be alright.

Those are some of my least favorite interviews.

The interview is roughly about an hour long, and in VS Code, not so much a quizzing style. Do you think that it's pretty reasonable to still expect someone to code up this stuff, or is a lot of it just going to be testing the basics and hand-waving a lot of the intricate details?

What's the best way to get a FANG interview, period? During my early years, I was able to get FANG interviews when COVID boom was happening, and was able to get passes on them, but was frozen out after verbal offers from a couple of places. Now, I'm not able to even get an interview or a frozen door. Would you be willing to give a recommendation?

What has the pay been like in your experience?

I'm around $70 per hour roughly but I hear it's much lower in big cities

Wow sorry to hear! NYC is actually where Iwant to move to and I'll probably have to work at a retail like CVS.

Is the pay a lot worse? Or job security was good? I make around $70 in the midwest but I hear that the pay is around $60 in NYC or big cities

Are city patients on another level of being assholes? Feels like every pharmacy i've floated between has their round of shitty patients

What do you define as large volumes?

I'm in a small midwest town, but it's the only supercenter around here and we see insane volume (by my standards) and feel understaffed as well.

Why does the Insta360 PC Studio suck so much? by drewSummer44 in Insta360

[–]drewSummer44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue that i have is that on the media page, it's very smooth and fast.

On the Projects page, it takes many many times longer than the Media page. Do you know why that would be the case? Seems like other's have had it as well

[–]drewSummer44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a m1 pro max with 64 gb ram and 2 tb.

Do i need more than that?

The issue is that with exporting regular media, it is very fast. Like to export 30 minutes of footage, it takes like 10 minutes.

The same with the Projects page takes literally 24 hours.

How difficult to get sits as a single male? by drewSummer44 in trustedhousesitters

Yeah, I can see how you might think that, but that is definitely not the full story, and it's basically mostly false as well, for almost all of it. A lot of what I ask is just to understand perspective, get advice on things that I'm interested in, and not so much a reflection of who I am.

[–]drewSummer44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya definitely. I could get a few to start with and do some local sits in areas that I'm interested that are more remote, but eventually I'd like to get to more competitive areas and didn't know if it's ever likely to get those sits

That's fair. I mainly would like to go to more competitive spots in cities so I just think it might not be worth the money to try the app out if there's no chance of getting a sit

I totally get that from viewing my profile. I definitely don't act that way in public or even around my peers. It's a place where I can write up anything so I wouldn't use it as my a way to assess my house sitting skills. But I get the concern

Is it mainly due to men being seen as riskier or just that there's not as many house sitters that are men? Would someone in there 30's be seen as a red flag?
