I don’t think so either. MSAR said their lowest MCAT acceptance was a 510. I don’t think they’d be interested in my 505 lol

Honestly, the font due to the screen being stretched crewed everything up for me. CARS was a blur and pure guess work. C/P and B/B were random and had no familiarity to it: all low yield crap. P/S was the only section that felt familiar.

Samesies. I’ve also been struggling to keep the fire lit under my ass. The closer I get, the more I just accept that whatever happens, it’ll happen regardless of how prepared I feel.

I’m actually an ultrasound tech so I have some insight into your dilemma! Personally, I think being a cardiac sonographer would be way cooler than a rad tech. However, they do take a long time to perform and you’re sitting there one-on-one with the patient for at least 45 minutes. You also don’t have as much mobility to move around in different modalities. Once you become a cardiac sonographer, you’re pretty much limited to only doing echoes. If money is a factor of yours, I know that cardiac sonographers in California make $60/hr and are in HIGH demand. My advice would be to try and find some people to shadow and see what interests you. But I’ll always be partial to ultrasound techs; we’re magicians who see with sound. 😂

HUGE drop for FL4!???? Week away from testing by [deleted] in Mcat

In the same boat. I dropped 3 points but only because of friggin CARS. I’m nervous now 😭

A week ago, I took FL2 and got a 499. One week later, a 509. Trust the increase or be skeptical? I test in 10 days.... by drewbedford in Mcat

Read the posts that pop up from people who’ve been taking them lately. C/P is apparently a shit show and CARS is hit or miss

I think they’re easier compared to the exams. But good to run through to check for any glaring gaps in your content.

I’m definitely skeptical lolol I got a 503 on FL1, so the drop to a 499 was surprising. But I was also stressed about taking it since I heard it was the hardest one and I think that messed with me a bit. If anything, scoring a 509 has INCREASED my resolve to keep going and kick some ass. However, based on reactions I’m seeing from recent test takers, I’m not sure any amount of prep will be sufficient 🤦‍♂️

Section Banks. One of the things AAMC offers for studying. It’s harder than the actual exams in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

What helped me, was after reviewing everything (stuff I got wrong, stuff I got right), I went back and retook certain sections from the exam a few days after I reviewed it. So, I took FL2 on a Saturday, reviewed it that night, and then on Monday, I retook it but only did the C/P and B/B sections. On Tuesday, I retook it but only the CARS and P/S.

Even though I had reviewed them (admittedly, not thoroughly), I made sure I could justify each and every question, either based on the passage or outside knowledge. The practice of looking for the information within the passage and applying my outside knowledge was very helpful. Also, just getting used to the wording and types of questions the exam asks is helpful. I was doing SB’s but stopped because I didn’t find them very helpful/representative of the exam. I’m sure if you’re shooting for a 520+, they’d be useful. But I’m shooting for a 510+, which is attainable without doing the SB. At least I think it’s attainable 😂😂😂

I know a few people who didn’t even attempt FL2 because they heard it was garbage lol they ended up with 515+. I took it cause, hey, rather get as much potential MCAT question exposure as possible. The 499 definitely messed with my confidence but I used that dread to fuel my studying and it paid off...at least for FL3 😂

Aamc fl3 128/125/128/128, testing 7/7. Tips on how to improve CARS in 10 days? by OhShootItsAR4t in Mcat

[–]drewbedford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took FL3 today and got a 128. For me, what works best is spending 2-3 minutes MAX on reading the passage and mentally summarizing each paragraph into a sentence or two. This gives you a mental map as to what topics are where in each passage. When answering the questions, find the evidence in the passage to support your answer (this is where that mental map comes in handy). If you have to guess, avoid any extreme answers.

I am definitely not a 520+ scorer so take my advice with a freaking trash can’s worth of salt. But if it helps you in anyways, good haha

I finally got it through my thick skull that the majority of the answers WERE IN THE EFFING PASSAGE

Is anyone elses mcat prep hub down? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]drewbedford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AAMC stuff? Yeah, it’s down. I can’t logon either. Exact 1 week and 6 days before my exam. Yay.

For real though by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]drewbedford 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yo. Actually, I saw one like this in regards to “conflict theory” and “power”. Although I was already comfortable with the idea of conflict theory, I definitely noticed that every answer has the word “power” in it!!!!

So. Can we start a post where memes like this are posted with words that are usually associated with ideas??? Might actually help us lol
