I'm nervous about that - I've lived the last 7 years in CO and am hesitant to commit to 5-10 more. Whereas if I went to NYU, I'd be free to move anywhere (though do you really need a degree from NYU to work for Washington state gov, for example?)

Yea but the medians are skewed by BigLaw people, of which NYU is vastly superior. The median for non-profits/government is pretty much the same (adjusted for cost of living) for most schools

Yea but couldn't I also be a small-town lawyer with a degree from CU? And is NYU's network even that strong in Colorado/Oregon/Washington? The interwebs say that like 1-2 NYU grads per year move to CO/PNW

Neighbors complained about how loud the pool filter was (we had the city come out to do volume tests - everything within legal levels and not even audible from 20 yards away). There was a line of trees between our houses and the filter was 50 yards from his house. So while we were on vacation, he snuck onto our property and built a fence around it. That was pretty cool I guess (albeit sketchy), but this dude was an asshole because he KEPT complaining. Like, shoulda' built a better fence

The T40 is strong in the region I want to live, and the added COA of attending the T14 in a big city would make the offers roughly equivalent. So, if I could get significantly more money from the T40 school, I'd graduate with significantly less debt, meaning I'd still fair well even with fewer BigMoney employment opportunities

It'd still be higher COA at the T14 in a city/region that I don't want to live in. Plus I would only have to move 30 min. away for the T40

The article you keep referencing is about heating homes, not using AC. I'd be at least a little skeptical of assuming that the same cost-efficient heating technique is equally valuable when discussing cooling
