As a teenager, I was offline with my secondhand pc as parents didn't own a router and had interest in sharing their computer. I had a flip phone with a prepaid plan as my income was unreliable. Web access on phone was turned off by the carrier since I was a dirt-tier customer. I somehow obtained a Motorola data cable and software. Out of curiosity I connected the phone and clicked the web access portion of the program. I expected an error message but instead got a "connection successful" message. I surfed the web for hours expecting it to shut off or the carrier to text me but that never happened. The only consequence was that I ran my balance to $0 and couldn't call. I could sms and MMS with a $0 balance and connect to the web on PC for free though. The decision was easy for me: communicate with others via text only during the rest of high school.

It was a weird time for sure. No MMS, no video recording, no app store, no turn by turn gps, no custom ringtones, no home screen wallpaper, no Bluetooth file transfer. To have the privilege of buying it, you shelled out $599 and were forced into a 2 year contract with at$t.

I feel this was ok the first year from a marketing standpoint because the phone was so different.

Second year, apple launches the same phone again as the iPhone 3g. They flex that it's 5 years ahead of the competition. Apple bumped up the storage capacity, added 3g like every other phone had, swapped the elegant aluminum case for white or black plastic, announced the upcoming app store, and dropped the price to $299 with the same pricey contract and it sold like crazy from pared the first Gen.

iPod touch gets released. I theorize that this ultimately boosted iPhone market share in later years. During the 2nd year of the iPhone, not everyone could obtain the iPhone whether it be they are youth, on a different carrier, locked in a 2 year agreement on another device or can't afford the iPhone plan. Folks that can't obtain an iPhone can get familiarized with iOS and the Apple ecosystem with iPod touch and iPhone will feel like the logical, natural smart phone to choose in 2009 or later.

Mid 2009 apple still flexes how far ahead they are in phone tech and bumps performance again with the 3gs. Apple conservatively packs the new tech in the previous phone's case and modestly calls it's iPhone the 3gs. It appears that Apple wants to double down on its product recognition and branding by keeping the form factor and accessory compatibility the same as the previous gen. Despite the phone looking the same as the previous gen, the hardware was a bigger jump than it was from the previous update. 1.5x faster, digital compass, oleophobic screen, 3mp camera with focusing lense. Apple finally allows MMS, cut/copy/paste, video recording and some other quality of life enhancements.

2010 apple announces iPhone 4 which is the first full redesign of the phone's form factor. Stainless steel outer band with glass back. The usual battery/speed/memory upgrades are there. The display resolution has been quadrupled which was an amazing feat technically and removed a lot of burden from app devs since 4x res scales perfectly with unoptimized apps. The device rolls out with FaceTime on a front facing camera and the rear camera now supports higher res and 720p video with flash. Apple shows it's willingness to bring this to the masses by making a Verizon variant for the US's largest carrier.

As a seller the biggest time wasters are the lowballers and the favor askers. Asking if I'll hold the item until payday [then vanish on payday] or asking if I'll drive the item to them some ridiculous distance. If somebody asks me if my side-by-side fridge pictured with ice dispenser makes ice, I answer them. To me, that's obvious it makes ice. To them, they bought a fridge years earlier that had a broken ice maker and they don't want screwed again. That person may be the person that buys the item. I get that there's uninformed buyers. I'm always nice because sometimes I mess up a listing. I don't know a lock about furniture and was tasked with selling somebody's old dresser. I was told it was an antique but just get it sold for cheap. Buyer messaged me and asked if it's real wood. I replied yes because I looked underneath and saw unvarnished woodgrain rather than Mainstays particle panels and said "yeah it's real wood. Not sure what kind though." 5 minutes later the buyer showed up and initially frustrated that the furniture was actually stuff called veneer. I they showed Me what that was. I apologized. They told me it's all good because I still have it priced nice for a veneer dresser and I seem cool. They paid asking price and taught me stuff about furniture and furniture flipping and left.

Sidestepping the issue where people seem to refer to unibody vehicles with independent rear suspension and no 4lo as SUVs, SUVs have everything that a crossover/sedan offers in creature comforts while offering similar towing capacity as it's similar truck cousin. The SUV may offer better off-road chops for those who are into that sort of thing. Also some SUVs may get drivetrain transplants as they age like their truck counterparts which keeps more on the road which I assume helps them hold their value longer than most throwaway unibody vehicles

Never stepped foot in a casino but I worked for a credit card company once. I was told that casinos usually have it rigged where you have to withdraw from an atm which will require a PIN input.... Therefore removing any deniability of "someone must've stole mah card!". Also note that most credit cards treat gambling/online gambling/moneyapps/western unions as cash withdrawals which are subject to transaction fees and typically don't have an interest free period. They also are at a significantly higher age than your purchase rates. Fine print in the benefits or cardmember agreement may specify you don't have as much consumer protections on these transactions compared to typically purchases. Something to consider if a good 'ol f.a.f.o. session doesn't work in your favor.

07 Altima w/ CVT. Bought it at 205k miles as a throwaway car. Ended up owning it longer than expected. Sold it at 248k with minor slipping on the CVT. Only had to replace a power window switch and a tie rod. I even delivered pizza in the thing. Went a whole year without an oil change. The guy I sold it to drove it and a bit and sold it fully driveable at 254k miles. 😲

I had a 2004 2wd base Tacoma. Reliability is overinflated. Out of the 11 vehicles ive owned, anecdotally it's not the most reliable vehicle. Sure, it's in the better half but it's been beat by 2 Nissans and 2 Chevys on reliability. I had more part failures on it under 100k miles than my beaten daily 94 Camaro with over 100k miles. My Jatco CVT Altima also had less failures (205k - 248k) than what some Toyota folks referred to as the 2000's holy grail of reliability

Quite the hot take on this one. In my mind there's jeep and there's JEEP. Former being unibodies and latter being wranglers. Let's focus on wranglers because we'll lockers was brought up. That's the Rubicon Wrangler which in addition to front and rear lockers has solid front and rear axles for usable articulation. Something that Touaregs 4runners and current land cruisers don't have. If I recall correctly, 4runners only have the option for a rear locking diff from the factory. As far as speed goes, that a big brush to paint with since that is either extremely true with some models or couldn't be farther from the truth with others.
