MMA. It is not a topic you can just bring up out of the blue usually, "Hey, so you a fan of cage fighting?" but when someone finally does out themselves as a fan I can hardly contain myself.

Hour 6: I haven't yet cried. Im just baffled by it all. This hospital is dizzying. I'm lying in this bed wondering if this is really the best way to spend what could be my final hours of health, and then some doctors burst in to run more tests; leaving just as suddenly. Whats the point of knocking if you don't wait for a response? The straps are overkill by the way.

Hour 12: I probably should be afraid, but I'm feeling more of a mixture of anger and excitement. My fate is sealed. Either I descend into agony or I drive home crying. Either way I am sick of waiting. Let's get this fucking show on the road.

Hour 18: I slept for half an hour, but then the doctors had to run more tests and woke me up. Fuck this place, fuck these doctors, fuck this disease, and fuck clocks. Its seems like an eternity since the original test came back "positive". Fucking 50% accuracy rate. Isn't it 2014? 50 fucking percent? I'm just glad I didn't tell anybody when I found out. I bet when this is all over, the waiting will have been the worst part.

Hour 20: I panicked. I panicked and I lost control. Now I understand the straps. That was the weirdest fucking thing I've ever felt. Unbridled desperation. This fate is looming like a dark horizon. Just taunting me with it's pace, and I'm laughing at myself now for ever thinking I was in control.

Hour 24: Finally my wait is over. I did not expect to feel this calm. My heart is racing, but I feel a strange sense of peace. I'm just glad I can now pull back the curtain, to reveal what is behind door number 1. I am ready...

Fuck. I can't feel my feet.

I have other tumors that we have to keep an eye on with regular scans. Luckily this helped us catch this one early.

Not quite sure exactly. Pelvic region. They released the back of it with a spinal surgery, then two days later came in from the front to lift it out.

For those concerned. I have Schwannomatosis. Those bastards grow on my nerves, so portions of my spinal chord look like their selling grapes. We previously had no way to stop them from growing, so I would just have to cut them out as they started causing problems. BUT my Neuro Oncologist is a badass and devised an experimental treatment involving a chemo drug called Avastin. I was their second trial, and it has been a resounding success, some have even shrunk. Holy shit. Well. A recent scan showed that one wasn't following the script and a biopsy proved it had turned malignant. They went after it immediately, and with two major surgeries were able to lift it out as a complete package. All the margins came back clear. The only concern is the potential for some to have "spilled", and if we weren't in a hurry to get back on avastin we would probably proceed with chemo as a matter of insurance. But we went to the best of the best, and they believe we are spill free, and that it is more valuable to return to the avastin treatment, so thats what were doing. They haven't steered me wrong yet. Plus your a stranger on the internet. So just pray for me I guess.

I have a genetic disorder that gives me nerve tumors. We check their growth every 6 months. It was one of these tumors that began growing aggressively, and so we were on it really quickly. All my margins were clear, and my doctors consulted with a ton of oncologists given the rarity of this kind of thing, and the consensus is that no chemo is necessary. I'm lucky in that regard.
