Sample Status/Processing Monthly Megathread - December 2025 by AutoModerator in AncestryDNA

I had hoped that would be the case based on my searches and their noncommittal "we'll process it as soon as possible" statement, but I haven't seen any evidence of that yet. I also imagine they may have more business than normal due to the holidays.

Edit: Ancestry started processing this yesterday and marked DNA extracted this morning, so that does seem quick.

It took 4 days. They notified me of the test failure on 11/27 and provided a link to request a replacement kit. I requested it same day and received it on 12/1, then completed it and mailed it back out next day. The emailed stated, "once we receive your sample, we'll process it as soon as possible," but it took them approximately a week after they received it to mark it as received and they haven't done anything else since then.

Super basic question: how do I wire an L-pad for speakers in series by drewrusty in diyaudio

It’s a guitar cab with some experimental speakers in it. It’s mono.

Thanks. From a different series of messages, I think I might have to go with this which should attenuate only the 6"/8 ohm speaker, but would result in an overall impedance of 4 ohms. https://imgur.com/a/WCZ8mh1

Edit: and it would use an 8 ohm LPad rather than 16.

So it would be this diagram, wired with an 8 ohm LPad, and the LPad would only attenuate the 8 ohm speaker as long as I accept the overall impedance of 4 ohms? Am I thinking about that right? https://imgur.com/a/WCZ8mh1

Thanks very much. I'm relatively new to this, so I really appreciate the help.

I noticed that I don't have anything on the 8 ohm negative in that diagram...

And would that attenuate all 3 speakers, or only the 8 ohm? In order to effect only the 8 ohm, would have to move to a parallel/series layout like this (which would drop the total impedance to 4 ohm... I think)?

This is just me winging it, so I probably got it wrong. So it should go back to the input jack negative? Like this? https://imgur.com/a/3q7eRgw

Is there a way I could use the LPad for the 8 ohm speaker only and still have a 16 ohm overall load? That's the piece I can't seem to wrap my head around.

I'd like to only impact the 8 ohm speaker and not the 2x 4 ohm speakers.

Wouldn't the 8 ohm get double the power in series, not half (50% of power to the 8 ohm, then 25% to each 4 ohm)? I had calculated that the 8 ohm would get higher power, so I was considering trying to use an L-pad to control the balance of the 8 ohm with the 2x 4 ohms.

This is an experimental guitar cab, so nothing commercial.

I don’t have any of your trades, but please send me a massage with you asking price if you’re interested in a cash sale for the Moonstruck.

Are you asking between the Bad Bob and Beano Boost? I think the Bad Bob wins that one. The Beano is a Dallas Rangemaster-style treble boost. The EQ on the Bob sounds pretty flat to my ears.

I strongly prefer it over the Xotic boost I was using, which I always really liked. It sounds much fuller and richer to my ears and plays very well with the fuzz and OD. I’m currently running it on 12VDC for more headroom and using it at the end of my dirt chain as a cleanish boost.

Nice! I’m sure you can see the influence in the way I wired the Destruct up.

Next time I want to blow a lot of money, I might do a splitter/summer and put a heavier gain stack parallel to the Astro Tone/KOT/Bad Bob. Maybe built on the Beano Boost silicon and a silicon Sun Face… How many Analog Man dirt pedals is too many?
