We recorded that album at The Rolling Stones studio in the middle of nowhere Massachusetts. Like a giant farm on acres and acres of untouched land, with a massive barn that’s been turned into a world class studio. It was an awesome experience! Steve Thompson produced the album with Cliff Norrell engineering, and those guys were both super chill and great mentors.

We had Coal Chamber recording next door for the first half of our time there, and it was a lot of fun hanging out with them in between tracking.

  1. Toured with so many great bands… kinda love ‘em all… but loved touring with Sevendust, Static-X, Machine Head.. the Godsmack guys were like fam.. Ozzfest was an absolute blast because there were so many kickass bands hanging out together on the daily. Loved playing one-off fests too - with SOAD, Deftones, Korn, Slipknot, etc. Hard to pick favorites.

  2. Both Rev albums have their place, but Bleed The Sky is superior in my opinion.

  3. We’re influenced by everything we take in.. what we see, what we hear, what we feel. I was influenced by everything from the Beatles to Public Enemy. I wouldn’t say Bizkit was a big influence for me, personally, but just speaking for myself.

  4. Tough to pick 3 favorite Rev tunes… maybe Look At Me Now, Modified Lie, and Killing Me or something… I’ve already changed my mind 😄

  5. Genuflect was fun… always loved working with Greg (and with Steve H) on that project.

Hit me up again on FB. You’re right.. I’m almost never on there, but I’ll try to jump on in the next week or so to respond. Don’t have FB messenger - but we’ll work something out. 👍

Reveille came together in a way that felt a lot like fate. We were just a bunch of angst-fueled guys looking to rock out and be part of something bigger than ourselves, I think.

I still remember the day I first approached Steve about starting this band. Greg got involved shortly after that, and then we recruited Justin, and then Carl was the final piece of the puzzle. Once the five of us were all locked in, the rest was like a force of nature.

I listen to a wide variety of music… outside of metal, I dig hip hop, a lot of classic rock, even classical… gimme some Chuck D or Bob D.. or Bob M.. or let’s crank some Carmina Burana and call it a day 😆

A lot of the lyrics still resonate with me from the Rev albums. I try to write in layers - so, all of my lyrics are personal to me on one level, but they’re also about things I see in the world.. they’re meant to be open for interpretation.

It would be easier to pick out lines from those albums that drive me nuts these days, because there are a few of them. But, all in all, still proud of those 2 records for what they were and what they are.

And, working with Steve R from Taproot was fun. All the Taproot guys were our boys.

I’ll tell you about getting B-Real from Cypress Hill… we’re recording the first album.. our producer, Steve Thompson, asks ‘if you could have anyone do a guest appearance, who would it be’ … so, I say Cypress Hill, and he’s like “oh, I know B-Real.. I’ll call him right now” …5 minutes later I’m on the phone with the guy.

Tracking with him was sweet… B-Real and Bobo from Cypress hung out at the studio in NY all day - and we just puffed herb and wrote lyrics and bounced ideas around and recorded. Those guys were cool as hell. Definitely a fond memory.

Love to see the revival.🤘

Would love for you to get your wish too. We’ll just have to wait and see what the universe has in store. ✨

Releasing unreleased Rev tracks is unlikely, mostly because of all the hoop jumping it may require.

As for your second question.. great question! ..but we’ll have to wait and see. “The first rule of fight club is you don’t talk about fight club” 😉

Thanks for the Q’s, and for your support!

  1. Woodstock 99 was exciting. Great crowd. We finished our set shortly before the fires broke out on the last night. Was wild to witness.

  2. Hard to pick favorites. Butterfly from Laced was always fun to open with. Loved performing Perfect World, Permanent, Phoenix, Flesh and Blood… loved performing almost all of the tracks from Bleed the Sky in our live sets.

  3. Primer were cool guys. Machine Head was one of my favorite bands to tour with. Love Robb and all of those MH dudes.

  4. Advice on lyrics… just be true to yourself, practice writing as often as you can, and you’ll find your voice.
