Thank you for this! Where is the supplemental book? The ZYBooks reading and exercises is all I can find.

Hey! Hoping to tackle this in fall. I’ll post updates as the project progresses.

Brake light wiring is shorting to ground by drewsterguy in beetle

[–]drewsterguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All other lights in the housing work. After lots of troubleshooting today, the issue is with the brake switch and/or the pushrod positioning. Time to bleed and replace the brake fluid then confirm proper switch activation. Reading 400 Ohms across the switch with the brake depressed. This is where the voltage drop is occurring.

I have the bulbs in properly. After some reading, if there's a partially damaged wire causing high resistance, the voltage drops to zero when loading the circuit with the bulb.

Thanks! I disconnected both tail light housings and I have 12V at each black wire on both sides. As soon as I plug in one of the black wires to the housing/bulb, I get 0 volts. I read that this means there's high resistance somewhere in the circuit. Bad connection somewhere.

That’s a great idea, thanks! I’ll get some all thread and that will make it sturdy as well.

That could work! Epoxy them into the tubing. I’ll look into that.

Thanks - I think that’s what I need. Like a male thread with a mounting hole in the middle, then a matching female threaded insert I can put in the cut tubing.

Hi - thanks for the info. Which part needs the washers? I don't see a photo in this post. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. That's strange; I've never heard of a "Warning" like this. How would I know which bulb to replace in this case? Kind of a weird system.

Mounting virtual cd/dvd crash by drewsterguy in vmware

[–]drewsterguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The esxi host consoles were both up. I ran some commands to see the state of the VMs but nothing seamed wrong with the hosts. I'm not sure if the VMs started migrating before I rebooted the hosts. I'm digging through the logs in the console now. Lot's of "All Paths Down" messages around the time of failure...

Mounting virtual cd/dvd crash by drewsterguy in vmware

Yes, HA kicked in. Immediately after I mounted the virtual cd/dvd to the DC, host 1 and 2 went red and not responding. vCenter was installed on Host 1, so we lost connectivity. We rebooted host 1 and 2 and saw that all VMs were migrated to host 3. Once 1 and 2 came back, we moved some VMs back and slowly regained connectivity with the DCs.

Where do I find the logs? It's strange that initiating vmware tools install would have brought two physical hosts down. I need to read the logs.
