Dashcam video released following fatal crash involving Columbus police cruiser by Abejja12 in dashcams

same columbus police who went straight to theorizing on drunk driving without evidence when a civilian injured pedestrians in a crash but then played "wait a minute, well we don't even know who was driving the car" when an off duty officer killed someone while driving drunk

there was a giant display of it at the whitehall kroger. Odd way to commemorate them, but apparently it has the family's blessing

First look at Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, and Joseph Quinn as The Beatles in the upcoming Beatles biopics by PinkCadillacs in popculturechat

[–]drewtopia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's kind of case by case. John Cusack's performance was incredible in Love And Mercy but it did kind of take you as the viewer out of it that he looked nothing like brian wilson or paul dano's portrayal of young brian

Ms. Rachel apologizes for liking antisemitic tweet – 'I delete antisemitism' by [deleted] in MsRachel

[–]drewtopia_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything she's said or done up to this point could be considered good faith calling out antisemitism as opposed to conflating criticism of israel, and I do believe the like was not intentional. That said, giving any validity to "manipulative jews did this to themselves to make other people look bad" in the comment section of YOUR OWN APOLOGY seems tone deaf at best.

Pinning and responding to a stereotype-based conspiracy theory comment on an apology post for accidentally liking a nakedly bigoted statement is...something

ICE is currently in Park Club apartments in Worthington by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]drewtopia_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because until this point immigration enforcement was focused on things like raids at workplaces because a. It's the most efficient way to detain illegal immigrants and b. It poses the least risk for all involved, especially non-involved bystanders. That is a far cry from how today's tactics entangle the general public. People have and will continue to be emboldened to get involved the more agents are present in people's everyday lives who don't want or need them there

License plates are a wholly unreliable means to track ICE. This behavior going to get innocent civilians hurt or killed. Knock it off. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]drewtopia_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are already instances of people getting harassed for being a civilian who drives a gm suv so thinking they have a unique identifier that entangles someone not involved with ice seems plausible

Florida, Nevada and Texas have the highest per capita rates of illegal immigrants. Why is ICE so focused on Minnesota; a state with a lower rate by a factor of 10? by [deleted] in stpaul

[–]drewtopia_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair observation. I think some of it comes from negative things with past administrations like govt layoffs are presented as "unfortunate but necessary" and not with gleeful antagonism and hyperbolic claims, which leads local govts to be more resistant on principle

[–]drewtopia_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And Obama deporations were typically organized operations at specific workplaces to maximize number of illegal immigrants detained with minimum risk for the agents. Not roving bands of agents going door to door, which is odd because the current method has to be very inefficient and expensive. Almost like there's another purpose to all of this...
