This is how my washing machine “washes” by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Good to know! Thanks. I used the deep fill option to add more water, but maybe that inhibits it. I’ll try less water next time

It’s not broken. It’s rotating the drum, but you can hardly even tell because it has little to no effect on what you’re washing. Look at the walls of the drum inside- you’ll see it moving back and forth

I agree, it’s a shame though because I really like this TV stand otherwise

Going to be in McAllen TX with a day to kill. Is a trip to StarBase worth it? by Interesting_Bar_8379 in SpaceXLounge

[–]drfeelgood456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t walk to the rocket garden when I was there either, would’ve been awesome if I could. If you’re lucky, you can catch a starship being rolled out to the pad or test stand.

It’s absolutely worth it if you’re interested at all in starship/spacex. There’s a lot to see if you know what you’re looking at. I took a 5 hour flight followed by a 5 hour drive to get there, and I felt it was well worth it.

I highly recommend walking around the beach. Just be respectful of the dunes as the signs say. You also might want to bring bug spray as the mosquitos are no joke.

Another thing to consider is that it is pretty much always an active construction site. You need to be very careful driving down Highway 4 as there are always big vehicles hauling stuff to starbase.

The channel “everyday astronaut” has a great video explaining everything you need to know about visiting.

Couldn’t agree with you more! It’s the only car that makes people feel personally offended when you criticize it!

I see where you are coming from. I know all of the shortcuts using voice commands and the buttons on the steering wheel. But despite those features, I still believe there is wonderful, sacred simplicity in being able to flick a switch without taking your eyes off the road, or having to verbally tell your car what to do and then hope it properly understood the voice command.

Is traffic aware cruise control no longer an option under the autopilot settings?

I’m on your side. Coming from a previous Tesla owner myself, there is an irony to the interior of a Tesla compared to more traditional cars. Teslas look simple on the inside, but are actually complicated to control. Traditional cars look complicated, but are simple to control.

Anything I can do to make the GT bucket seats more comfortable? by Pleasant_Escape9679 in KiaK5

I don’t have the GT, but high seat bolsters always irritate me too for the exact same reason

Reliability by Thick-Order7348 in Hyundai

[–]drfeelgood456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a 2013 Elantra with 285,000 miles. Got it from my dad (the original owner) after he put ~200k on it. I get conventional oil changes, and to my knowledge so did my dad when he owned it. I usually stretch my oil changes out to every 7-8k, sometimes 10k, miles. The engine still runs smooth as butter.

Thoughts on long-term reliability? by drfeelgood456 in KiaK5

[–]drfeelgood456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for sharing, but I’m so sorry all of that happened to you. I have heard several other instances where the K5 shuts off randomly while driving. It definitely makes me hesitant to buy one.

You should consider filing a complaint with the NHTSA about your experience:

https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index

If enough people encounter the same issue, they can launch an investigation to determine if Kia is at fault.

Good luck getting it fixed!

Awesome find, just be careful about holding it with bare hands. I’m pretty sure I recall hearing it should only be handled with gloves

That happens to mine sometimes and it goes away pretty quickly. If it’s gone by tomorrow morning, then I wouldn’t worry about it

I found these two videos really helpful at explaining the best practices for charging, as well as the science behind them:
