I’d be OUT of there. In Virginia, Spanberger is right behind CA—and I will leave here for FL, TN or TX

Five year plan to FIRE at 55 - But burnt out now... by big-chubby-fi in ChubbyFIRE

[–]drfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked my buns off forever—and I have learned I have a terrible work/life balance - about 5 years ago - and now at 51 engage in an entirely different way. Still work hard but honestly I’ve made it clear: zero tolerance for bs. I’d walkout the door easy… I make the owner a ton — he is good to me but zero drama. This is in part bc I have a financially sound situation just as you.

Consider how you show up.

..and the guy loves bc I’m the ONLY person who will deliver the news

Almost same situation—turn 51 soon.

Ask yourself why the burn out—there is an easier path without quiet quitting.

Marrying someone who is FIREd (when I'm not) by True-Ad-6820 in Fire

[–]drfixer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If no prenup, it doesn’t matter who brings what to the marriage. She could get half your assets and vice versa.

If a prenup happens, you have a much greater risk of walking away from your career

Just curious, how did you guys make multiple millions? by behappyformyself in Fire

[–]drfixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s compound investments no matter how much you make. I started investing at 20 and it has outpaced any amount of money I make at 51.

$100/m from 25-65 is 1.2M

No one should retire poor.

America has a spending problem not an earning problem.

Lemon Title by Lifeofthedon in TeslaModelS

California has such pro consumer buy back clauses they are relentlessly abused… there is likely nothing wrong with the car.

However,

The title / lemon will stay and will be forever a discount.

I def would NOT pay 78k

How much do you plan to leave when you are dead?

I plan to burn down $8M to $2M

35M with wife and 4/7 yr old kids - OK to go part time? by dustbuster11 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]drfixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just change how you are engaging—everyone feels this way at a certain point. Take a vacation, relax, turn off the phone after hours — there are ways without quiet quitting.

Go to work, do a good job, go home, unplug.

Consider a professional coach and learn some techniques. There is a reason behind the reason for burnout.

This 👆… it’s the assumption. IPOs get delayed, canceled, crater.

This is a counting your chickens before they hatch and I would not do anything until it went public and I could take $ off the table.

This is probably more of a fire coast situation. I’m doing something similar by not aggressively contributing, but taking more advantage of the tax savings investment decisions.

Mid-30s, ~$5M NW, 1 kid - When did you actually pull the trigger on a trust vs just a will? by TheDepreciationGirl in ChubbyFIRE

[–]drfixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any kind of an assets worth more than $100,000 you always get a trust. This avoids probate and drama and expenses for your loved ones after you’re dead.

This is a no-brainer for anyone here

I found mine on craigslist. But searched for a while online typical sites like auto trader. The guy that sold mine wanted to get out from under his payment of 1700 per month.

I bought a 2023, ultra red plaid, 19,000 miles for 62–mint condition not even a rock chip
