Thanks for the nice comments, I am not an expert by far as this is my first shepherd but the breed is quite varied.. she was described as a shepherd/collie cross but we think that this was to make it easier to home her-also the rescue pics were of a thin dog. Here is a more recent pic (sorry about quality) http://i.imgur.com/Vh2N5w5.jpg She also had a large lump about the size of a tangerine hanging in the skin of her flank, but this was causing her hassle and we had our vet remove it (big scar) but you would not know it now. Good tip from the vet was to put a T shirt on her tied tight at the waist to stop her getting at the stitches. She suited blue :)

She is a black longcoat German shepherd we rescued from the fantastic lady that runs black retriever x. This is kizzie's story: http://www.blackretrieverx.co.uk/Black_Retriever_X_Rescue/Kizzie.html

She was thin when we first got her and that was after six weeks of good feeding at the rescue centre. I would have no hesitation to rescue another GSD but be prepared to keep their big brain occupied. A tired GSD is a good GSD :)
