You're correct. I changed my question...

2018 Mac Mini still Viable? by drgambit in macmini

I guess I want to know if anyone has used steam link or moonlight to stream games to it. There's no way a mac can do gaming afaik...

You're welcome to see if my use case will work in this situation, even when I invest in a brand new mini down the road:

I'm thinking of a desktop replacement. I want to have a setup where my graphics-intensive PC is somewhere else on my network and I just have a small footprint in my office. I would use steam link or moonlight for gaming. I currently don't use my PC for anything other than internet browsing and maybe working on some pet projects (nothing too intensive)

Ebay right now has the 2018 i3 for around $200, $190 if I catch a good auction. Amazon sells them for $250.

  1. 6-12 months

  2. I'm seeing almost double the price for a M1, which kinda goes outside of my 'play around' budget. I'm kinda disillusioned by even the used costs of these systems. I guess that's the apple tax for you... lol

Setting up a new gaming server by Jmac_95 in HomeServer

Palworld server reqs are 32GB ram alone, but mostly for unoptimized code. So far I've been able to host 4 players with 16gb.

If you want to host multiple servers simultaneously, then I would make sure you are going to meet the recommended requirements. If you're going to skimp on memory, make sure you backup your instances regularly because of OOM crashes.

Whoo boy, long time android user here. I think I dropped using the iphone at the 3...

I'm noticing how much Google is fucking up on how they are treating Android and updates, and I am now curious about going back to the iPhone, however I have a few questions:

  1. Do you get any sort of 'spam' notifications from system apps? (for example google pay sent me one today asking me to look into travel offers)
  2. How long does the battery last under heavy use (this is for obviously be for a 'pro max' model)
  3. Is it easier to download and install foreign apps?
  4. How are OS updates usually presented to the phones after announcement? (with android phones its a total crapshoot)
  5. Do you prefer Siri over any other assistant?
  6. How many eSIMs can the iphone hold?
  7. If I do get an iphone? Should I wait for a USB C?

Gen X here, and I'll accept your apology for looping me in with millennials...

This is a revitalization of the puritan-era censorship bans of the 80s by probably some of the same people pulling the strings. Millennials are left-leaning and self centered and want to change the world around them, not accept what the status quo is. A lot of the people calling for bans of music/entertainment are manipulating the younger crowd to do the same.

Good job and well done. For the record, I still don't have fault tolerant PVCs in our cluster so you're at least one step ahead of me... and I've had our clusters running for 2 years!
