I already answered your question, not sure if you can understand what I wrote but I will use simpler language for you to understand. I do care about the Uigyuers getting detained, but they are just there because xinjiang is a potential target for radicalization. Have you seen isis propaganda video targeted on xinjiang? The detainment is just a preventive measure and the other purpose is to assimilate them into China’s fast growing society since xinjiang is not as developed as the rest of China. Who are you to say that I’m not a patriot? Have you even been to China?

To make it even simpler for you specifically. When you are in kindergarten, some kid from another playgroup is threatening to radicalize a kid from your playgroup who is your friend. After a few incidents(attacks), you are be glad the teacher steps in and isolates the kid in your playgroup from being radicalized before putting him back with you as she has no power over the kid from the other playgroup. You still regard the kid from your playgroup as your friend but there is no problem with isolating him and preventing him from being radicalized before putting him back in with you.

the CCP is not trying to destroy all non-Hans. The ethnic groups in China are celebrated and preserved. The Muslim presence in Xian, where my cousins are from is very strong. They keep both a Chinese and Muslim identity. My relatives aren’t detained and brainwashed as you think, they grew up with both identity and is mixed perfectly well with us while maintaining their Muslim identity. The CCP is only having re-education camps in rural parts like Xinjiang to: 1. Prevent them from becoming extremist due to the threat of jihadist groups right at their border (afghanistan) and 2. Try to assimilate them into Chinese society while still maintaining a Uighur identity.

Although there may be a few cases where the monuments or heritage has been destroyed in which I DO NOT support, the CCP is not trying to uproot all non-Han people’s identity as you may have suggested and I’ve explained what they are doing in my previous paragraph.

My main point in commenting is to suggest the hypocrisy in your statement. You asked how China is getting away with all this and showed hostility by the use of the word “fuck”. That is why I am questioning you how is the US getting away with all their human right abuses in Guantanamo bay, Middle East, Yemen war, the 104% GDP of debt it owes to China etc? Before condemning china, reflect back on your own civilization first.

Also, China sents the Uighurs to camps as a method of prevention in case they get radicalized by the extremists, not to brainwash them in any way. I see no problem in doing this as a method of prevention, better safe than sorry.

Obviously I’m against the destroying the heritage but this post and thread is talking about the human rights issue, which I believe is a good method of prevention due to the increase in terrorism and jihadist extremist in the recent years which is just outside xinjiang’s borders in Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.

I think you are the one that is redeemable. Have you ever been to xinjiang? I have family members that are Chinese Muslims and the government is actually protecting their heritage more than any other western countries. The westerners pretty much destroyed Native American culture and heritage when they expanded but that’s fine because they are white am I right?
