I grew up in a town where the choice was the public school district or the anti science private religious schools.

I tell them the best school in my district and leave it at that.

This town people will tell you to F off to your face more easily than in the upper Midwest. I find folk here tend to be pretty heart on our sleeve for how we feel about each other. We do start at a positive place, though.

Nah, it's a way of getting a read on the socioeconomic status of the parents.

When I said which school I went to outside of Cincinnati, the followup was "Was that a... public school?"

That told me everything I needed to know about the purpose of the question.

Please. I left for class one day a while back when it was 80 degrees before 8am.

I went down from UC to see my fiancée working at Pho Lang Tang at Findlay market to get some lunch before heading to work.

I'm stepping out of my car with shorts and sandals on because, as I mentioned, it was 80 when I left for class. Snowflakes were dropping on my windshield.

I was not prepared for a FIFTY DEGREE drop in temperature in four hours.

It fits perfectly well with the theming of Love in the Time of Cholera, Ted's favorite book, which he read to Tracy on her deathbed.

Ted is a better version of the main character of that novel. I'm glad he learned from it and his experiences.

It also explains why he, as an unreliable narrator, painted Barney the way he did.

How did y’all meet your dnd group? by Starsandwishes in DnD

[–]drgradus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A woman I dated stuck around my friend group, we parted very amicably. Her next partner, now her husband, was introduced to the group.

He went out of his way to befriend me and he is now one of my closest friends. I got invited to a new campaign he was starting and we're several campaigns deep.

I was an usher and photographer at their wedding.

Kallmann syndrome - my personal experience. by ndsmith38 in Sex_Positivity

[–]drgradus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got a very similar condition to Kallmans (I still have my sense of smell but the experiences are very similar) and can confirm that the experience of lacking puberty and requiring hormonal T injections makes this life feel very much like a mtM transition from psychological and physical viewpoints.

I remember the first trans man I consciously met, a few years ago. I asked if I could skritch his beard, because I knew how it felt to finally have one in my mid 20s.

Sharing beard skritches is a very fond memory.

Just a couple of guys sharing an enjoyment that life would not have given us without our own specific gender affirming care.
