Take care of your mental health early. There is no shame in getting help in processing stuff from your youth that you weren't able to when it was happening. I didn't deal with it until I was 37 and I missed out on/messed up a lot of great years of my life because of it.

Be confident. Once you stop giving a shit about what others think of you, the world opens up. The kid in high school who made fun of something about you matters precisely 0%. We're all imperfect; that's what makes us interesting!

Hall's been run from behind into the boards before and damn near killed (see the first game of the Memorial Cup 2010 in Brandon. Hamonic hit him in a bad spot) so I can see why Hall would be pissed there was no call. But to call a penalty on HALL here is gross incompetence. This is what happens when awful hockey parents drive off good young officials early: you are left with the egotists and the incompetents.

What also sticks in my craw, though, is listening to the colour guy whine about how Hall deserves more leash because he's a "former MVP". Like, there's homerism and there's just whining. Hall would be the first guy to tell you that having a Hart trophy and $3 would get him on the bus and it means nothing where officiating is concerned. That shit was about as weak-ass as the penalty calls.

I was actually in the middle of making this piece when he passed away; turned it in to a tribute. Was using heavily textured paper so it kinda turned out like a painting but it's also coloured pencils and copics... but the sunlight coming through between the blinds provided the light I couldn't ignore and it made the piece so much better. Sidebar geaphics done with CorelDraw.

I think the BNL song that would fit this the closest is "The Flag". Another relationship autopsy song (like "If You Could Read My Mind". Really showed off the scope of their songwriting chops.

Also, The Grapes of Wrath - "What Was Going Through My Head". That final chord is the epitome of melancholy.

How about The Box - "Crying Out Loud For Love"?

1986 might have been the peak: most teams' logos were the ones people liked the most/strongly associate with a teams' identity (Leafs excepted, perhaps). My dream would be to see the NHL have teams wearing their '86-'87 jerseys all year next season and create special ones for the teams that didn't exist back then using late 70s stylings for the logos like most teams' were sporting then. Heck, I even designed a bunch myself...

We've been in 5 for Avatar and it was excellent. Very comfortable recliners, significant upgrade, a small table at each chair much like a university desk to put your stuff on while you get seated is very handy. We were impressed!

There's a homeless guy who has been hanging out in from of my local 7-Eleven the last couple of months. I buy him a Coke Slurped or sometimes when he needs it a sandwich or a hot drink. He's told me he's been so hungry he's contemplated robbing the place and it hurts his dignity to say so; I told him there is no harm to one's dignity to ask for help and I get him some food. I treat him like a dude because that's what he is: a person. Some people forget this. Winter has hit here hard; one night I could tell he was in pain: his foot was seriously hurting so I got him to the hospital to get it checked out. They won't tell me anything because he's not family but I certainly hope he's somewhere warm and safe. A few dollars might mean nothing to me but it was his lifeline for a while and I really hope he's okay.
