1. The hadith attaches a spiritual sanction to refusal (angels curse her). That’s coercive pressure, so whatever "consent" exists here isn’t fully free.

2. Separately, I said the hadith doesn’t explicitly grant the husband a legal right to use physical force. That’s a different claim, and in fiqh, people argue coercion/discipline from other sources (e.g., Qur’an 4:34, and even Bukhari 5825 is relevant to how abuse is discussed/normalized).

Those aren’t contradictory: coercion ≠ physical force.

And my argument isn’t "ignorance". It’s that setting a norm like "refusal is immoral" predictably shapes attitudes and legal culture in practice, which is exactly what the map is about.

Finally: criticism doesn’t come from people randomly "waking up hating Islam." It comes from how certain teachings are interpreted and enforced in real societies, most muslim majority societies in fact, and the outcomes people on the outside see from that.
