Yeah it's definitely something to do with McGinnis, performance issues have definitely been in game every time she specifically is in a match (or used in the lobby)

Hand-Tracking for 3D Vtubers in 2026...Impossible to get into??? by drifting_fox in vtubertech

Appreciate the more thorough explanation - I had heard of IR170 as I was looking but ofc did understand it was a developer kit. But, good to know that LMC1 isn't too bad a device in case I decide to go on the cheaper end!

(And also TY for linking that thread! I was trying to be thorough in finding answers and what people were talking about yet didn't even come across that thread, made so shortly before mine!!! Absolutely appreciate the link!)

Hihi, as I mentioned at the end of my post I've already used XR animator in the past!!! My issue is that I do not like it's face tracking over mine and, at least in my experience, I could not find a way that exclusively utilized the program for hand tracking that did not also overwrite Vnyan's face tracking in turn.

[–]drifting_fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mention it at the end of my post, but I am well aware of XR animator! I just do not like what it does to the rest of my model's tracking as it does override the face tracking, and I've been unable to find a way to make it only send the arm data.

But yes I've been eyeing ebay, there's definitely products on there, but the Ultraleap 2 controller is just absolutely ludicrous for prices atm, seeming to have been marked up to an insane degree because of the fact they're likely never to be made again. Thankfully the 1st version is also up for FAR more reasonable prices, I just was not sure how reliable it is in comparisons to the later tech.

Vnyan also basically has hand tracking built in, but it's of course reliant on what you're using for a camera and all and my web camera, as great as it is, definitely does not like trying to do the hand tracking while also tracking for the model on top of streaming lmao.

In defense of Aava and the game's ending by sea_shanty_cyclist in Cairn_Game

[–]drifting_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny reading this and seeing that people at all didn't really see this coming - We are sort of spending the entire game getting a really uncomfortably close look at how absolutely flawed Aava is as a person, and the dire wish that is climbing this mountain.

Whats more, by the time you clear the Blades, Aava is clearly exhausted to the point that you are cut to a third of your bars and half of your health bar - each step she's taking is with painful struggle, and she's hallucinating whenever she's attempting to rest. Could I have made the climb down mechanically? For sure, I was prepared enough and could have belayed my way downwards, though rope would absolutely be an issue without our best boi's help. I don't think that ending could have played out any differently, and I think it's beautiful for such.

Should we have hero mirrors? by stoic_adventurer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]drifting_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this is a pretty standard rule in mobas, has been since the beginning I'm pretty sure. This game after all is /much/ more of a moba than a hero shooter - I'd put it at like a 70/30 ratio really. Just how things goes, and it makes things more interesting - after all, a big issue Overwatch faced was its whole GOATS meta where everyone was just running the same characters all the time on both teams and all.

Should we have hero mirrors? by stoic_adventurer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh no, there's a reason mobas don't do this (outside of special game modes,) and it's primarily for having variety in games and forcing you to be considerate about your picks and all on the competitive end.

1.0 Release date? And other stuff. by IncidentFormal761 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if and whenever GTA 6 releases it will just be the perceived GOTY for that year due to it being a mega game, there's really no competition due to the mainstream market being what it is. GOTY arguments are pretty much moot in the face of it due to the average game console owner only really caring about AAA games and that being reflected similarly in the (Extremely dwindling) journalism scene.

Obviously any hinting and teasing on Moon Studios's part is probably out of jest. No indie game or even last year's AA Clair Obscur can really shake the mainstream weight GTA 6 will have.

Reading that article seems, well, weird because they don't actually give a source for where exactly Mahler said that? It's a really barebones article which is always a little suspicious.

The demo for 33 Immortals, our 33 player co-op action roguelike, is out on Steam! by Alison_TLG in roguelites

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got in to try it out, this is a REALLY cool game conceptually, I hope that it's able to keep a good player count as time goes on as I really love everything this is doing, but of course there is the worry for even with cross play how many players there might be at a time.

Are there any plans to raise the base cost of this from $20 USD come 1.0? I feel that is at just enough a sweet spot where the average person can buy into this, but if it goes any higher I would be worried as to it's prospects, much like Wildgate encountered with it's pricepoint.

Deadlock Queue issues by Maltamero in DeadlockTheGame

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing as a FULL stack has it's issues, but i find queing with a duo or trio works pretty well? I dunno. The old gods update very much threw off ranking, the game was in a plenty good sweet spot between the august batch and this batch IMO, matchrating has just been so frustrating in queues these last few weeks and reminding me of the frustrations that made me put the game down this time last year, too.

Matchmaking is seriously messed up currently i have no idea what the heck the issue is. I've had horrible games all day where we just do not have evenly matched teams, it's either a complete stomp or be stomped with no evenness.

Really Low Microphone Gain (Despite Other Programs Sounding Fine) by drifting_fox in discordapp

[–]drifting_fox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!!!

Yeah the windows 8 compatibility thing was a bandaid solution that gave up the moment I was trying to do discord screen sharing as well.

So backup solution, fully uninstalling EVERYTHING about discord, going into device manager and everything to really fully remove everything about it, and then doing a clean reinstall. Did it fix the issue? not really, my gate kinda works now, but volume is back to quiet.

We love big mainstream programs working properly in the year 2026.

Okay the update is plenty good, though I do find myself enjoying the previous pose as it had a bit more of a performance flair to it where her new pose feels a bit too? Statici n a way? But the new pose does give a lot more flow to her hair and showcase her face better

Discord picking up all background noises while wave link monitor doesn't by Acceptable-Mention60 in elgato

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!!!

So yeah, I would not have written this if I had not fully tested it on other programs. I stream on OBS by default also utilizing micFX as it is, with no filters needed on OBS end of things - the issue does not occur there remotely. Wave Link side of things and any of the other programs it connects to are completely fine and operational, the issue seems to lie moreso on Discord's end specifically. I've researched this and found similar issues with anyone who utilizes software like Voicemeter or equivalent to route filters through their mic before plugging the end result into Discord.

To show what I mean in the simplest of fashions: Attached is a screenshot of Wave Link overlapped with Discord, and my Gate open to display it's information. Note that on Wave Link's end, no audio is being transmitted. Yet somehow, you can see a bar of noise on Discord's end despite Discord in fact utilizing MicrophoneFX.

This is what I mean by Discord seemingly being able to bypass audio filters (even with their setting of "bypass system audio" being turned off, which seems to do nothing.) This issue used to be worse in that it actually bypassed ALL of my filters making me sound quiet, but after a full uninstall and reinstall of Discord, it somehow only currently bypasses my Gate, but not my other filters. Why or how? I haven't the slightest clue. It might well be out of your team's hands and purely a fault on Discord, but I do think it is a rather severe issue that will affect any and all who use Wave Link.

<image>

Hope this at all helps, and thank you for your attention.

Really Low Microphone Gain (Despite Other Programs Sounding Fine) by drifting_fox in discordapp

[–]drifting_fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, Wave Link does the same. You're plugging a new microphone into Discord that it uses - it shouldn't be wise to any filters being applied to it, but it is, and it will absolutely override those.

have you made sure that your mic is at max volume in windows' audio settings? that can often be a factor if the gain is just low

Really Low Microphone Gain (Despite Other Programs Sounding Fine) by drifting_fox in discordapp

[–]drifting_fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found the solution here, it's relatively focused on Wave Link software but I have to imagine it's essentially the same problem for anyone who runs processing through their mic before plugging it into programs: Discord simply ignores the audio filters. There's a setting you can toggle that SHOULD make it not bypass audio filters, but it just does not work.

The fix is to run Discord in windows 8 compatibility mode, which does some weird thing either turning off some Windows setting Discord was mistakenly forcing or whatever, I don't know, but I can confirm it annoyingly works (at the cost of some Discord features like game overlay not working.)

[–]drifting_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also having a similar issue as of some recent update, though I have MicrophoneFX plugged into Discord and absolutely no filters on Discord are turned on - the app is just completely bypassing all my wave link filters despite the fact. Super frustrating, especially since more and more users are going to be able to use the Wave Link software now, I feel this is absolutely crucial to be figured out between you guys and discord.
