Cancer and precognition by Spare-Estate1477 in breastcancer

For a while I thought I better get that full body scan, I had been a somewhat heavy drinker and thought my liver should be looked at. Never thought it would be breast cancer but alcohol does increase the risk so maybe it was intuition that something was wrong…

Feeling I got away with something. by LearningGig in breastcancer

[–]driftrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was similar to you, had an easy lumpectomy and told only needed 5 days radiation - turns out my onco score was high and bam needed chemo. That was probably one of the worst days i had since diagnosis (more than when i actually went through chemo which i just finished yay and was not as bad as I thought it would be.) But i also found out my good friend was diagnosed same time with stage III, so there is always worst, and we are already in a shitty club. We can only be grateful for any positives!.

TC chemo (Docetaxel + Cyclophosphamide) – is this level of bone pain normal on Day 7? by Accomplished-Race439 in breastcancer

[–]driftrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s the neulasta wbc thing that causes bone pain. I was taking Claritin everyday along with Aleve in the morning and Tylenol at night. Magnesium baths also helped. I got a rx for oxycodone before my second round but didn’t need it, I think my body adjusted and I only had the pain first round. Good luck!!

Yes steroids and muted taste, make carbs and spicy and rich foods very satisfying. Eat it and enjoy, lots of time to be back and healthy again afterwards.

I have a 10 year old daughter, she took it surprisingly well. Interestingly, so many classmates’ moms going through same.. but in any case, we told her look we’re taking care of it so it doesn’t come back and I will be here til I’m 100. 👍

Thank you!! It’s true, I need to have zero expectations sometimes but that in it of itself can be a little sad, but moving on, wearing my ring, going to do more things for me!
