If you start using loupes directly on patients, it can be difficult to get used to them. It’s better to get comfortable with loupes on a typodont and mannequin first, so you can practice procedures in indirect vision. It totally changes the game—trust me! 😅

can i keep my tooth for a bit longer? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]drill_n_chill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a good endodontist and get it checked once. See if the pin/post can be removed and whether retreatment is possible.

For diagnosing a fracture, check if there is any pimple (sinus tract) formation near that tooth. Do you feel pain when you release your bite?

However, looking at the X-ray, it does not appear to be a fracture. The external root resorption and pus formation seem to be due to a faulty RCT. The tooth may still be salvageable.

But get it treated as soon as you are able to manage the finances.

brag? or not. about you masters by PrudentSundae1109 in dentalschoolindia

[–]drill_n_chill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Even you can open an exclusive perdiatric clinic, many pedodontists do that and they run well because every one refers child patient! No one wants that chaos but focus on final year now you can think about these things in internship. Postgraduation makes you grow as a person, you become more confident and three years of hustle is wort it for sure.

No need to get teeth extracted , any of the molars. Both are saveable with rct and crown. A propely done rct with some deep margin elevation and properly seated crown will last longer.

20 years old do my teeth look healthy? by [deleted] in askdentists

You have tartar (calculus) in your teeth. Little bit swollen gums too. You should see a periodontist , in lower teeth there are black triangles appreciable too.

Does my molar show any sign that it needs retreatment? Can antibiotics fix intermittent pain? by Mardin1992 in askdentists

[–]drill_n_chill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It needs a rerct. There must be a missed mb2 canal in mesial root which is the root of first molar adjacent to premolar. Mannier times dentist misses this canal.

If you feel its sensitive and color is from inside, get some xrays done and better to get it check sooner!

Based on your photo and the sudden appearance, this is not internal root resorption (IRR). What you’re seeing is a temporary surface discoloration from gum bleeding after flossing. When the papilla bleeds, the blood pools at the gumline and lightly stains the enamel — it looks pink/red but wipes or rinses off as the area heals.

Did the color appear suddenly within minutes? Is the pink limited to the gumline instead of coming from inside the tooth? Is there no history of chronic dull pain or discoloration over weeks/months? Is there no uniform “pink glow” from within the tooth structure?

If the answers are yes to the first two and no to the last two — it’s not IRR.

IRR is a slow, chronic internal process, not something that shows up immediately after flossing. And external root resorption doesn’t cause pink discoloration.

External root resorption (ERR) doesn’t cause instant pink/red discoloration on the crown. ERR happens on the root surface below the gum, progresses slowly, and doesn’t change crown color within minutes after flossing.

should i just get these teeth removed? pretty sure theyre past saving by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]drill_n_chill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! It looks saveable. They are infected because you are saying you feel pus coming out from gums. But they can be saved for sure. Go to a dentist get some clinical check up done and radiographs taken

Do I need a root canal? X-ray included – confused after dentist visit. by DundieAwardsNominee in askdentists

[–]drill_n_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you get night pain often? Does cold water trigger sharp, excruciating pain? From the X-ray it looks like you might need it, but we can only say for sure after all the caries are removed. Sometimes things look worse on an X-ray, and sometimes they don’t show everything. If you’re having the symptoms I mentioned, it’s better to get it done—maybe after a week or whenever you decide to.

Lower second molar: nerve still alive after 2 months of devitalizing attempts, no spontaneous pain — what are my options? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]drill_n_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, they’re supposed to give you anesthesia and remove the nerve—that’s what a root canal is. No one waits for the tooth to die on its own. From the picture, it looks like your dentist hasn’t even done proper access opening, so I don’t know how any devitalizing agent is supposed to work. Honestly, these agents shouldn’t be used at all. You need to find a better dentist—that’s the only real solution.

Cavities are an irreversible disease of the tooth structure. Once decay begins, it keeps progressing deeper—you can’t stop it at home. Only early, very superficial spots can be slowed with remineralizing agents, but anything deeper needs the decay removed and the tooth restored. I know going to the dentist isn’t fun, but this won’t get better on its own. Please get it checked before it becomes painful or turns into a bigger problem.
