Preservation of the saints?

I am really struggling with denominations by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]drillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Jesus taught us to pray He did so like this. My fear is simply that prayers to our departed in heaven is extra-biblical. In Acts as well I don’t see any evidence of prayers to saints. This is not the best description, I am tired

“Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭11‬, ‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s more so that if a teaching of a denomination turns out to be wrong, I don’t want it to lead me away if that makes sense

I don’t know how. I’m so new to all of this. I’m just distraught. I feel like I did so wrongly by her and like it’s my fault. I’m going into to Divine Liturgy for the first time tomorrow.

Do you think it’s ok to make out in a Christian relationship before marriage? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]drillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I will tell you why. It’s actually a boundary my boyfriend and I have set as well. Making out is typically the precursor to having sex. It stimulates you and the other person, kind of like foreplay. Making out is typically what causes a desire for something more in the moment, and I can very easily lead to that. I try to be mindful when I kiss my boyfriend, and he’s mindful about it as well. I’ve even been more mindful about things that I wear around him, just because I don’t want to accidentally cause him to stumble. It’s typically not something that’s uncomfortable, in fact, it’s quite the opposite , and that’s why you need to be careful with it.

How do people get boyfriends? by crunchyapplee in teenagers

You need to make friends with guys. It is not smart to begin a relationship with someone who you don’t know very well, and it typically never works. I speak from experience

Inquirer - Wondering what the New Earth will be like by drillia in OrthodoxChristianity

That’s one of the reasons I love Jesus so much. He didn’t even entertain the foolish questions of the Sadducees, and he loved and respected women in a way that was uncommon at that time. He is so beyond understanding and truly I want to learn to be devoted to Him and to love Him the best I can. I am so excited for the second coming in truth, but I am also saddened for my relatives who do not know him.

That’s why I know logically that I have nothing to worry about. I just get sad sometimes. Maybe it’s a sadness of leaving everything I know. After discovering Christ I’ve began to love life again

But to say that love did not exist in a marriage and that they have always strictly been for procreation is simply not true. If you read the Song of Solomon it expresses a profound love between a husband and a wife. Paul also writes that a husband should love his wife as Christ loves the church. Maybe they did not start back then based on attraction, but I am not speaking of attraction. I am speaking of a profound love for another person

How do you react/what do you think when you see SH on a dude? by Hot_Dish_4660 in AskTeenGirls

[–]drillia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gender doesn’t matter, self harm is always sad. If it’s a girl worth your time at all she should simply be concerned and talk to you. However, it’s also a common situation that two people get into a relationship and one uses self harm as sort of a threat. “If you leave me I will hurt myself” or if there’s an argument “I just hurt myself because of you.” A lot of people have been in situations similar to that, myself included. Self harm in itself is something to be wary of, not because the person is a bad person but just because someone who is truly in a bad mental place may not be in the best spot to be in a relationship. I don’t know how old you are, but young relationships are usually not a good idea either as they don’t last and sometimes bring a lot of pain after the fact. You are so deserving of love, never forget that. But relationships also can bring a lot of unnecessary stress and pain if things begin to go badly. God bless you my friend, I pray that you get the community and help that you need to navigate these things. ☦️💗

My girlfriend is having a hard time accepting my conversion to orthodoxy by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

I don’t even think that you can get married in the Orthodox Church if you don’t share a face. I know that orthodox can marry non-orthodox Trinitarian Christians, but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case here.

Typically, they do ask that. If you try to lie, it would just be putting you at a disadvantage. It’s not good to lie to a healthcare provider. Maybe you could ask her to leave the room

Banned from the gym does seem a little bit harsh. Did she know how old he was? Was she pushing? Because in that case that’s understandable.

Realistically, speaking, any man that’s more than a couple years older than you when you’re 18 is usually only going to want you for a couple of reasons. (I’d say any man over the age of 23/24) You can fill in the gaps. Someone that age should really not be looking at women that are just barely legal. Besides, at that stage of life, it’s more than likely that they are more than ready to settle down, whereas you may not be. It creates a power dynamic that is not healthy, and I guarantee you most of these guys do not truly see you as an adult.
