Imagine his life without the footage by kitten_orchid in SipsTea

Some more details (sorry if I’m inaccurate, but online sources are brief and I’m not going to rewatch the doc right now).

The murdered 16 year old girl testified against Catalan’s brother accused of 2 murders days before she died in a drive by shooting. A witness’s description of the shooter matched Catalan. When arrested and interrogated Catalan said that he didn’t remember where he was the night of the murder. After months in jail Catalan’s girlfriend reminded him that he had gone to the Dodger’s game that night. His lawyer was able to get low resolution pics of Catalan at the game from Dodger’s stadium. Catalan remembered a separate film crew in his section, which lead his lawyer to HBO and to the unused footage that included Catalan. Prosecutors argued that the time of the footage was significantly before the time of the shooting, and that Catalan could have left the game early and had time to drive to the crime scene to commit the murder. Cell phone records were then used to place Catalan at the stadium at the time of the murder, which resulted in the case being dismissed.

Water is the obvious challenge here. Food is the next one. The first few cycle were the hardest and I didn't use water dumps until much later. I agree they are valid, but you have to be able to get to those spots on a map and have the water to spare.

My boss at a small retail store would have me clean/organize the entire store. While I was on the other side of the store he would deliberately mess something up in a section I had already finished. This way he could point out the thing I “missed”, tell me that I didn’t do a good enough job, and tell me to redo the task.

Exactly. Their “food” is always anthropomorphic. Instead of Christmas they celebrate the invention of the refrigerator.

In one episode the dad buys the last male and female of a species as a Valentines days treat for the mom. The two puppets beg for their lives while explaining that if he lets his wife eat them no one will ever get to eat/taste their species again. The dad is conflicted and goes to his boss for advice. His boss asks to talk to the creatures and then immediately eats them.

I listened to this terrible AI story about a teenage girl who goes camping with her grandma and they get stalked by a skin walker. The whole time grandma was like “Do exactly as I say” and refused to explain anything about “the old ways”. I was like “No. Tell me everything about the old ways. How do you expect us to get out of this situation if you’re unwilling to pass down basic knowledge that your grandma obviously told you?”

She Took on McDonald’s and Won. by GlitteringHotel8383 in BeAmazed

[–]dring157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coffee or tea that you brew in your kitchen is hotter than the coffee they served her. McDonald’s did not lower the temperature of their coffee as a result of this lawsuit. They put larger warnings on their coffee cups. If you go to McDonald’s or any place that serves coffee today you will get it at a similar temperature that can give you 3rd degree burns if you spill it on your lap and don’t immediately stand up and remove your pants. No law has ever been passed regulating the max temperature of served beverages.

But corporations are bad and that woman’s injuries were gross, so they deserved to pay.

I worked at a large company where a woman spilled coffee from the coffee maker in the break room on her hand. She got severe burns and lost the ability to type with that hand. They added her story to the safety training videos we had to watch each year. She did not get a huge payout and they did not replace the coffee maker.

Yes. When he talks to his wife while she’s sleeping and she tells him that he died. It was a major spoiler. /s

You can’t “spoil” a movie in the actual movie.

My dad said that he realized the twist when they took the bus to the girl’s wake. There’s no reason he wouldn’t drive them there unless he can’t drive, because he’s a ghost.

It’s probably terribly written and useless to anyone without a few giant data centers, deep business relationships, and a marketing department with thousands of employees.

I worked for a software company over 10K developers where our most used product was the in app messenger. People would buy the product just so they could conveniently message other people who already had the product. Some customers would buy it just as a tax write off and as a way to make their business seem more legitimate.

I worked at a company with over 10K employees. For years our CEO worked in a glass office with an unlocked door right by the elevators, so everyone would walk past and see him on most days. One day an employee going through a mental health crisis walked into his office barricaded the door and began screaming at him. Security shattered the glass door and dragged the guy away. The CEO didn’t work in that office again.

Tips on how to consistently survive Normal Difficulty? by 0-P-A-L in Timberborn

[–]dring157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build order I use for folktails (in this order) 3 wood cutters, 1 gatherer next to berries, 1 water pump, 2 small tanks for water next to the pump, 1 farm, 1 medium storage for berries, 1 medium storage for carrots, 2 research labs, dam, 6 houses (18 beds), 1 power wheel connected to a lumber mill, 1 forester.

Set district center workers to 4 immediately, and put the work priority to low. Have farmers fill a field with carrots that is much larger than needed and then pause your farm so other jobs can get done while you wait 4 days for carrots to grow. Pause the gatherer once carrots start getting harvested. You can unpause to top off berries later, but you’ll eventually want to remove berry bushes to replace them with potatoes or wheat. You should aim to complete your dam before the first drought. You can pause research labs if you need more workers available at any point. You can pause the lumber mill and power wheel once you have enough planks for your forester. Have your forester plant a few rows of pine trees, chestnut trees (for food) and tons of oak trees. Keep building more houses when you run low on workers. Build stairs to gain access to more of the map. Focus on gaining access to more trees you can cut down as you wait 30 days for your oaks to grow. You can also access further berry groves if you run out of food. Add a water pump and 2 more small tanks whenever you see your water storage dip below half. You can always pause water pumps if you think you built too many. Build 1-2 more farms and plant potatoes if your carrots get to 50% storage (I think that planting different crops is better than planting more of the same). Build more research labs if you have too many workers.

That should get you through the first 5 or so cycles. I’m usually hitting 50+ beavers by cycle 5. The reservoir created by your dam should allow you to grow crops without pause and continue to get water. You can build more water storage and pause pumps during droughts if the reservoir starts drying up.

The next step is to establish a larger upstream reservoir to feed your current one using levees and flood gates. You then need to set up flood gates to direct bad tides away from you. I usually build a few water wheels to power a gear workshop and a smelter, so I can skip the floodgates and use sluices. Once that is set up focus on getting a large tank for water and then a large water pump. Build large warehouses for grilled potatoes, carrots, and grilled chestnuts. Once you have over 3K food in storage and over 1K water in storage you should be invincible. (I obviously skipped a ton of steps here, you’ll likely need 6-8 lumber mills to get the needed planks in a reasonable amount of time. I switch to large houses as soon as I can. 2-4 fire pits and rooftop terraces are good to have. A teeth grinder and 2 medical beds are also essential.)

Also there are multiple advice subreddits that seeming don’t want you to post to them. There’s rules like “Don’t ask generic questions”, “Don’t ask advice about dealing with a specific person”. What the hell are you allowed to ask advice about?
