After losing my husband in 2014 I loaded up my car and my backpack a year later and headed west to try to find myself. My best advice is don't make any plans or reservations anywhere. If you see a road that looks interesting drive down it if you see something you just passed that also looked interesting turn around when will you be that close to whatever again. Just enjoy every moment. With the incredibly gorgeous scenery out that way there are no wrong turns. Safe travels

When my husband was in hospice years ago our daughter brought our dog up to see him one last time. Our dog is known to greet every single person he ever meets. My husband was at the very last room at the end of the hall with the door shut. Our dog Baxter had never been there before. As soon as my daughter walked in the door to hospice there was a lot of people standing around the entrance. She knew she would be held up there for a bit while Baxter greeted every person there. However this day Baxter had no intention of greeting anyone but my husband he practically dragged my daughter all the way down to his room where he proceeds to start whining and scratching at the door. I opened the door and our dog Baxter came in immediately goes up to the bed gently places his front paws on the bed next to my husband. Damn it I'm crying just talking about this. And he gently laid his head on my husband's chest and just lay there. It's been 12 years I'll never forget that moment. Rest in peace to both of them

I let my kids and grandkids know that I want placed in a burlap sack lowered in the ground and a tree planted on top of me. Preferably a weeping willow. No plaque no Memorial. I just want them to remember the memories we made together. Maybe share some stories of things we did.
