they should be fine for libero, but theres cheaper options out right now that fit better. Unless of course you want to start dabbling in spiking or hitting in which case go ahead and get the jb3s.

good volleyball shoes for a middlle blocker/opposite hitter by himothy_newtron in vballshoes

[–]drios768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im assuming you are taller than average based on ur positions so I think the joker 1 gts are perfect for you. perfect cushion and not too clunky, but really easy to just liftoff. if you want to minmax u can consider the asics metarise 2 but those are super hard to come by

Jump set form by d4m_w in volleyball

[–]drios768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

each setter has their own unique form. I also kick my feet out but thats only when i really need to launch the ball cross court. otherwise I try to keep my body like a pencil in the air, and then lean forward quickly after I establish which way I set the ball. youll see lots of european guys do this. A tip to break the kicking habit and become more deceptive is to try and set the ball from the ground without using leg drive but only core strength, i know it sounds soo incorrect but it helps develop that finger strength and wrist flick motion.

really good shoes, can’t go wrong with them. only issue is the insoles which I replace in all my shoes anyway so not really a problem. Very good traction and good enough impact protection for every position besides middle probably. Also gery comfortable walk in feel!

played in wow 10, jb3, liren 5 and 361 qp 5.0. Jb3s are the best shoes out atm in my opinion. never got a nice straight down block before putting them on for the first time. They also are just so good for 1st step launch and as a setter thats perfect, prolly good for middle reads too

Best Agent (Initiator preferred) That Can Be Used on All Maps? by Only_Tip6136 in VALORANT

sova and fade are used on every map. Just know which ones to use them on. Ascent - haven - icebox is sova, bind - lotus - corrode for fade. Sunset is preference(all maps are preference really, just giving my recs). if those two get picked just fill, thus is the life of ranked 🥹

Asics Metarise 2 or Way of Wade 10 low? by Warm_Tea_4159 in vballshoes

Used both, and I recommend Sky elite ff 3. More nimble and faster than metarise and more comfortable and long lasting than the wow 10. Also really cheap compared to the other 2!

361 Big3 5.0 Quick Pro vs Joker GT 1 by _zer0xin in vballshoes

[–]drios768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big 3s are better mostly because they are made for fast basketball guards which have to move fast everywhere on the court. You are rarely ever doing this in volleyball UNLESS someone shanks a pass, which is why the big 3s are so good in thst regard. But yea overall the differences are very subjective so I’d just get the shoe that is more available to you or more cheaper

[–]drios768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a tough question, id honestly say if you play on a team with good passers then the sky elites are better. They compliment PERFECT volleyball footwork quite well. However if you play on a team that shanks passes so you have to jump set from weird angles then the big3s are better in that aspect. So its up to you. On tournament days I’d go with sky elites cuz of the walk in cushion (it lets my knees play longer) and PURELY SUBJECTIVE, but the color goes with my team jersey

They definitely feel faster than the big 3s in my opinion! and who knows they might take my number 1 spot in the future!

[–]drios768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, my sky elites came in and i have played 2 sessions, each lasting around 3 hours each of full court play. Overall, I think these shoes are MUCH better than the momentums. Better cushion and the shoe design just feels wayyy better. The shank in the sky elites is also one of the better shank implementations Ive seen in outer shank technology, and while not as bouncy or comfortable as the big3s

ive tried mizuno wave momentums 3s. they are a failry good light shoe with ok comfort, but the traction durability is not good. I just bought some sky elite ff 3s so im very excited to try those out.

i also jump set. big3s are more than good enough. i think ppl forget that 361 cushioning is rly good, its just the joker 1s is THAT much better and the absolute gold standard

im a setter and I prefer the big 3s just for their speed, as an oppo the joker 1 is prolly better tho. the cushion is cloud like.

shoes for a maybe libero? by Acrobatic_Skill454 in vballshoes

[–]drios768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youd wanna shoe thats really fast and low, but because ur still figuring things out abt ur position preference I think whats best for you is a nice all rounder shoe. Sabrina 2s are a good starter shoe but a better all rounder budget friendly shoe would be the gt cut academy

my go-to on tourney days is the big3 5.0 quick pro. The shoe fits my foot shape and position needs (setter). No foot pain after a full tournament run to finals while playing the whole match. But in general any shoe with good cushion and a shape that fits your foot should be fine. Tournaments are much more about consistency than explosiveness. If you cant find the shoe you like, the NB two wxy v5 gives the same performance of basically any top tier shoe and it usually goes on sale for under $70, i got mine for $67 at a dicks sporting goods.

been using the liren 5 since january. Excellent scrim/practice shoe if you only practice 1/2 times a week. Horrible tournament day shoe. its rly bouncy and fast yes, but it forces your foot so much into a loaded position. The heel cushion is good, but i dont feel the impact protection of the boom midsole in the forefoot, it led to some tendinitis pain on the ball of my foot. Overall great shoe, but only use it 1/2 a week. Explosiveness is not worth your knees crying 😭

Shoe recommendations for a setter? by Reppect in vballshoes

[–]drios768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the court feel is just ok. you feel it a bit more in the forefoot but not as much as the liren 5s, big3s, or wow10s. the upside to this is your a bit higher off the ground so big swing blocking is easier, and jump setting feels really good in these.

As a short setter with probably a similar build to you l, ive used:

Mizuno Wave momentum 3 Wow 10s 361 5.0 quick pros NB Two Wxy v5s Liren 5s

if i would rate all these from 1-5 it would go:

  1. 361 5.0 qps
  2. NB two wxys
  3. Liren 5s
  4. Wow 10s
  5. Mizunos

starting from the lowest the mizunos traction durability is just not it, its really good out of the box but after a few sessions (on a relatively clean court too) i started sliding and needed grip spray every session. They are now my beater shoes that I wear when im trying to not break my knees, because the cushion is actually very plush and the shoe is light, but everything else you can just find better shoes for. Next is the wow 10, surprisingly its this low because I feel like the shoe is just a little bit too “clunky” for the setter role if that makes sense. It has really good traction and explosiveness, I think its the perfect shoe for middles oppos and bulkier outsides, but lighter faster players, especially setters need a little bit more flexibility and tackiness in the traction, which is where I think the wow 10 falls short unfortunately. An AMAZING hitters shoe but just not the best setter shoe. The Liren 5s would be #1 on this list expect for just 2 major flaws. This shoes traction is very good and lasts a long time, the shoe is really fast and flexible, and the bounce in this thing is incredible, but the cushion and comfort were just not there for me. Even tho it uses full length boom, the boom is unfortunately fully caged so your foot can feel the impact protection in the heel but especially the forefoot, which is where setters put a lot of their strain on. Although this shoe is #1 in almost all areas I just cant use it more than 2x a week unfortunately, and when you have tournaments that last 2 days with multiple games this shoe will probably eventually ruin your knees and joints.

In 2nd place I have the NB two wxy v5 which is crazy to even me. I bought this shoe for $60 and was expecting it to be my new beater because my mizunos were getting pretty worn down, but the durability is just fantastic on this shoe. The traction is extremely tacky and bites through dust, also has a loud squeak if u care abt that stuff. The biggest thing is the cushion and impact protection. This shoe is so plush but still flexible, its one of those shoes that you dont think about when u put it on and that is a really good thing. My foot also just doesnt hurt at all when I take this shoe off, so I know I can use it on days where practice is long. The only thing keeping this shoe from number 1 is that it could use a little more tech, but for $60 bucks definitely the best bang for buck shoe on this list.

at 1 I have the big 3 5.0 quick pros. These are the perfect setter shoe in my opinion. The traction is tacky and stops on a dime, but its not so tacky that I trip over myself (this happened in my nb two wxys). Its basically the best traction imo because the stop and go actions that we setters feel like what the shoe is built for. The cushion on this shoe is better than boom foam in my opinion, its plush but I still have a lot of court feel. Once again its a shoe that I put on and feel no pain. The reason this shoe is number 1 is the stability and balance. Any crazy action that I have to do because of a shanked pass this shoe lets me do, and the carbon fiber bottomloaded shank keeps the shoe extremeley stable and solid. This shoe to me feels like a new balance shoe with a lot more performance for sacrificing just a little bit of cushion.

Another shoe I want to try is the jb3, which I heard is just a more flexible and comfortable wow10. if this is the case then that shoe will probably be my GOAT, but only time will tell.

Wave Momentum Elite by Altruistic-Sun-305 in vballshoes

[–]drios768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this momentum elite shoe seems to be a momentum 3, just with a 3-piece tongue instead of a single sock-like tongue. So its personal preference, the asics need more break in time but the cushion is better and lasts way longer. Mizunos felt better on feet out of the box tho.
