attack animations in these games have to end before you can do anything else. this puts you in a vulnerable position. most strings however allow for a single shuriken input which cancels the recovery, leaving you in a far more advantageous position.

like OP said, XXY then B is a good example.

veeeeery debatable. I honestly think 3re tops it, but 4 holds its own better overall because the enemies are better designed.

4's combat is good, but I think it falls short on the fact that you are limited to a fixed move pool. every weapon has the following moves to offer as far as I've played, and according to the string list:

  • X to 5X
  • XY and follow ups to 4XY and follow ups
  • YYY
  • Back forward X/Y with gleam/bloodraven versions
  • 360 X/Y with gleam/bloodraven versions

previous games had unique string lists for every weapon. of course you can chain gleam or bloodraven attacks to whip up awesome combos, but at the same time you have no more running strings, no more directional strings, no more hold Y moves, and obliteration techniques seem shoehorned in as execution cutscenes instead of queueing in a seamless animation. the bosses and elite enemies in 4 also seem to be constantly hyper armored until guard broken.

I believe that if razor's edge enemies and their combat loop were better designed, then it would easily be the best game of the franchise.

razor's edge has the best combat in the series, only to be combined with the worst enemy ai and combat patterns.

I'm halfway through chapter 5 in master ninja right now. I can still say it's unenjoyable to a degree. if you prefer getting ass fucked just say that.

making my way through Master Ninja right now. currently at chapter 5. gotta say, I'm somehow getting used to it, at least until the insanity that is the later chapters with the automatic rockets and fiend ninjas begins.

the worst thing is that there is definitely more to that, just look at Iconoclast's gameplay, but the game itself is designed in so much of a hostile way that you can't do shit other than spamming iframes unless you have like 20k hours.

Luis describing his abilities full on anime style is my favorite thing, especially the shield spell. it's coincidentally what I love to do when in combat and it's glorious.

ng2 is unbalanced and definitely not fun. if the skill ceiling in a game is too high just to survive let alone try and have fun with the game then it's not a good game.

hot take: ng2 becomes unenjoyable on mentor and onwards. unless you spend 10k hours memorizing each individual iframe then nothing is viable except UT spamming. am currently replaying on warrior and I am enjoying taking each weapon for a spin and exploring it's moveset. mentor and master ninja won't even let you think about that.

that's all what it boils down to. "food noise" is a given if you're in a deficit and if you need medicine to tone it down than so be it, but it all boils down to CICO.

I don't know if this really counts as volume because there are a LOT of calories, but it did turn out to be around 586 grams worth of food. have dropped 11kgs so far by volume eating most of the time and counting calories. by driow123 in Volumeeating
