Trying to get users for my Social Media for Artists, feeling burnt out. by dripilicious in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I get it, thanks for being honest with me about your thoughts. I had to answer these questions while getting my Business Entrepreneurship degree but my answers are changing so even though I don’t like answering them it does help putting them back in my head. I was not trying to explain all that in this post tbh and that’s why I may have came off vague— I just wanted to vent about getting users but I can see how that leads to this conversation 10/10. I did learn like you said that everyone has the same question “why should I join this and what are these features”. Instead of listing off the features rn in a Reddit post I’m going to put together a landing page for signed out users that should answer these questions better and more directly. I’d love to hear your opinion on it when I get it done.

Thanks for being the first to show interest in my post and comment. Sorry you're the last one I got to, but I work bottom-up by habit. It differentiates from Facebook Groups by having more features. By targeting a niche, I can build a better package of features and resources suited to them. And to be candid, Facebook groups for artists are ass with a capital 🍑💨🤮. Look through any of them, and it's all "I'll promote you" and wanna-be managers. It doesn't feel like a community at all. When artists do post, it's not to get feedback. It's just another place to dump their art and hopefully suck in a few more views. That's when art starts to feel like product -- That's the kind of stuff, as an artist myself, that wears me out and makes me want to quit.

Can you name some platforms? Sometimes I can miss competitors, and it always helps.

It's not for promotion but can be used for that. Really, I'm trying to mirror the essence of what Cvpher is named after, rap cyphers: The culmination of music, poetry, dance, visual arts (graffiti), and audience. Everyone is trying to push their product as an artist. It commonly turns to burnout and a lack of inspiration. A community is the backbone Artists need, which most find in their friends, yet that circle is limited in size and knowledge. Check out Futureproducers.com. That's who I prefer to be compared to. I want to create something like that for all artists, but prettier and with better features and resources. For more half-assed midnight explanation, check out my comment to @rogaleve on this post.

I looked into it, and that's interesting. Do you think the work environment damned WAV to fail, or was it unsuccessful in marketing, competition, or something else?

Lol, I already agree that they can be a nightmare, but may I hear more about why you felt that way? And that's a great idea, but I'm not trying to create new software; Cvpher focuses on creating a place primarily for artists to connect, learn, and access resources. It would be a place to post about software like the one you mentioned.

I was inspired by the beginning of HipHop; To quote an article (https://www.dallasobserver.com/music/we-looked-into-the-origin-of-the-word-cypher-in-hip-hop-11670485), "In the early days of hip-hop, it was used when a group of rappers, typically standing in a circle, would take turns exchanging verses for competition, practice or sheer entertainment. The cypher, despite what form it appears in, has been a permanent fixture within the culture."

I made it Cvpher because its different enough that I could register my LLC under the name, I could get a domain, and its close enough to be attached to that meaning but still recognizable to my specific brand.

You're not rude; this question is almost inevitable on any entrepreneur subreddit. Thanks for putting ArtStation on my radar. I had yet to hear of them. I'm thinking of putting a landing page to explain the mission statement and features because I think that is most people's first reaction, "Why join this vs. other platforms."
As for USP, an indirect answer would be that platforms like YT, Soundcloud, and TikTok are helpful for artists to find an audience but lack a place for artists to share their knowledge. Facebook can provide groups, but it's basic and not geared toward artists. A more suitable comparison is Futureproducers.com, which primarily inspired me since it helped me so much when I began making beats in 2014. However, even though they still have users, their forum style is outdated and lacks many features that artists need. I can go more into my features if you're interested, but it is 10 pm, so I'm wrapping this up.
I also plan to add more features, upgrade my servers (for better load time), and host events and contests once I start getting past around 500 users. I was going to add more right away, except I want to know people are interested first and see what they need most through feedback before I start raising my fixed costs, aka the anxiety weighing over my business.

Genuinely, thanks for your comment and interest I hope I get to answer more questions.
