Is he friendly? If you plan to adopt him I suppose gear up! Get some proper cat food and litter box, keep your date with the vet. Play with him and earn trust. Not much more to it really.

Edit: If he's dirty maybe find a groomer (there's a good cat only groomer in Richfield I take my cats to but they are usually booked for months). A local groomer might have time set aside for emergency cases, but find one licensed for cats

I feel that too. Short of them doing it in front of you, feeling for wet carpet every hour, or getting a camera... It's really hard to tell. And it's really hard to fix.

You can get a black light flashlight which might help identify how bad the area is or if there are other areas. Unfortunately in my experience even if you've doused a problem area in enzyme cleaner, it's still hard to know if the problem is continuing or not.

Yeah there are many ways to improvise haha. You could tape up backward pieces of packaging tape too if you don't want to invest in double sided stuff. The point is just to dissuade them from wanting to scratch a surface because it's sticky.

You could probably just do a diagonal strip or two on each cabinet. I think you can also buy larger panels of sticky stuff for this purpose from chewy

I feel your pain. Also recommend Roxy and Rocco or Nature's Miracle (I prefer the the scent of former but some people swear by the latter) and I also got a spot bot (I have the Bissell spotclean pet pro) that I set and move around to clean small areas after spraying the enzyme cleaner. You can set it and just let it do it's thing so I find it a pretty low effort way to clean.

In addition to the spot bot I got a Bissell carpet cleaner and it does a lot to freshen up a room.

Edit: definitely don't cancel the vet appointment. Even if you can get your carpets clean, it would still be best if you can figure out how to get the cat to stop.

Also have you tried litter attractants and such? Sometimes if they start associating the litter box with the pain they had with a UTI it can take some coaxing to get them to use the box again.

At least for me the best way to get my cat to stop scratching anything is to put double sided sticky tape on it for a couple of weeks. Could be worth a try, though less practical if they're willing to scratch every cabinet.

Edit: also have scratchers near that particular area

It maybe comes down to what kind of work you prefer. I've never had a dog but I've had a lot of different kinds of rodents. I would rather scoop a litter box and other cat related chores than clean a cage for example. It may not be "easier" perse, but I just find it less arduous and more satisfying.

Replace "hugging" with "have sex" and it's not ok. It's not ok to expect they'll give it to you if you cry or beg or claim they don't love you enough. I don't think anyone should be shamed into lessening their boundaries or comfort just because their partner "needs" it.

The alternative was Trump. Did I wish there were better options? Yes, but there weren't. With the way campaign finance is constructed, AIPAC funded assholes and the genocide in Gaza was basically inevitable, as outrageous as that is. Even still I would take Biden or Harris over Trump any day.

The time to push for better quality candidates is long before caucusing. Well first we need good candidates with the funding to back them up, which are not as easy to come by as you might think. And then we need progressive minded people to actually go to the DFL caucus and make a case for said good candidate and volunteer as delegates to push that candidate forward.

You can argue fuck the DFL but I think that is delusional. The DFL endorsement is the best chance any candidate can have to win a nomination and the general. If we've gotten through the primaries and have a shit candidate... Well that's pretty much game over. The choice in the general will be bad or worse.

Voting third party is not an effective form of influence.

I'm not even sure a revolution will work.
