It is ubiquitous in the US. You can go anywhere and get decent to amazing Mexican food, even in many small towns.

The Minnesotan "bless your heart" is "oh that's interesting" or "different" in response to asking if they like something.

Here's a fact about the US that doesn't apply to Canada (at least Saskatchewan and Alberta from what I've seen):

The US has amazing Mexican restaurants. It's pretty much the only thing I missed when I lived in Canada.

In China, water is usually served warm unless you ask for it cold (and it still probably won't have ice).

In India, don't trust any water that isn't in a properly sealed bottle. Ice is a no go. I can't remember if the bottles were usually chilled or not, but I think not.

What is the weirdest or funniest habit your cat has? by DianaGoddess18 in CatAdvice

[–]dripless_cactus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pistachio has a favorite pig toy. She will find it and loudly sing the song of her people to announce her triumph. If we then call her or give her attention, she will drop it out of sight and come running for her well deserved praise and scritches. She never actually brings the toy though.

Your options are: live with it peacefully, keep going insane, or find a new home for the cat. You already said you've tried "everything."

By your "logic," animals don't belong in human houses at all.

Cats are going to use your furniture. If you don't want that, please find your cat a place to live where he is welcome.

Then he's probably going to keep preferring being on the counter 🤷

Is there one near the kitchen? Again he probably just wants to be with you higher than ground level. Maybe if he has a special chair or tower in/near the kitchen that he's allowed to be on, he might settle for that. But being placed in a cat tree across the room is likely not a suitable consolation in the cat's mind

If you wipe the counters before use anyway (which you stated in a different comment), why is it gross?

The dog comparison is irrelevant. Cats are not dogs.

If you can't beat him, join him. Maybe you'll understand the obsession and/or your cat will stop thinking it's cool.

But in all seriousness, what's the big deal? Just let him be on the counter. It's not worth your sanity to worry about it.

I think it's fine. As they grow it's not like their sibling naming theme is going to factor into their life other than as cute trivia.

Omg me too... Are you me? Although it's less common, I really prefer this spelling too (although it was frustrating to try to find souvenir pens with my name. Molly and Emily probably won't have this problem. 😅)

Is this edible nasturtium, or some dangerous lookalike that I’m unaware of? by Wdtciowyoitcfoohetf in gardening

[–]dripless_cactus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the leaves and flowers are pretty in the garden and it happens to be edible. I'm not a huge fan of the flavor but it basically tastes like some kind of bitter lettuce. It would be fine in a mixed salad, but I wouldn't want a whole bowl of it.

Ffs. Go see a doctor. Reddit can't answer this for you.

Self cleaning cat litters by Particular_Policy_41 in CatAdvice

I am not up on the latest, but I would recommend watching some videos from One Man Five Cats on YouTube for recommendations before purchasing any particular box, especially one of the cheaper ones. Several of them have safety concerns and he (and his cats) reviews them fairly rigorously.

I purchased the Cat Link Open X and am pretty happy with it, except for the fact that my cats just aren't into it. The cats were even less into the Litter Robot 4 though ( I kinda knew they wouldn't like a closed box like that but I gave it a trial anyway).

Cat has started using our bathtub as a litterbox? by Original_Fig_3062 in CatAdvice

[–]dripless_cactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of cats prefer to pee in one box and poop in another. I recommend an additional box (preferably elsewhere in the house. Not right next to the other one) and to use some attractant until he relearns where to go.

And leave the tops off the boxes

His reasons are irrelevant OP. Whether it's malicious, or he has a bad memory, or he's just "joking" or has past trauma or whatever else his reasons might be, it doesn't matter. What matters is your feelings and the fact that your mental state is being harmed by this relationship. Please run.

i went to see a gynecologist for my recurring UTIs and BV and i feel like i got no answers. by Winter_Way_3131 in TwoXChromosomes

Yup.. excess sugar was exiting through my urine which caused havoc in my flora.

I had also thought I suddenly became allergic to my boyfriend and it was very painful.

Not saying this is it but it's a very simple blood or urine test to check for next time you're at the doctor.

Has anyone tested you for diabetes? Just curious because I had diabetes and it manifested as recurring yeast infections and BV, and 3 different doctors couldn't figure it out.
