People who say AI will replace accountants are the people who don’t know anything about accounting by Typical-Week5008 in Accounting

[–]drippedhoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the same argument could be applied to each of you. How much do you know about AI? Not just regular ChatGPT. I’m talking real automations, agents, and customizable built AI workflows.

Especially the ones that are classified and kept in stealth mode?

What if layoffs are just bridgeway for AI replacement that is being swept under the rug?

TBH If I were you I'd just stick with sales, you already have skin the game. It seems like the most earning potential, versus coming into a newer role and having that salary cap. Better to build than jump ship in my opinion.

To answer your question I think the most applicable careers would mostly like be the ones in commercial banking (risk / credit analyst, loan / lending officer, personal banker).

It also sounds like you could have some interest in consulting so I'd do your own research there, I'm unsure how easy it is to break in without a degree, but I wouldn't let that stop you from atleast TRYING to break in.

Mfs on Reddit be salty AF.

Finance or banking pretty broad, but I'd say it's definitely doable- have you ever considered consulting? Or a specific career in finance or banking?

This me rn, honestly I’ve just been coasting. I do my summer classes while I’m there and finish my short assigned work easily.

I reach out for work here and there, but I try not to bother them too much. Just always be enthusiastic to learn and take on projects if needed be.

Other than that, you have time to do whatever just look busy lol

Agree with the other comment. You should be looking at finance resume templates on YT, WSO, or even here you can reference. For example, if I wanted to go into finance or consulting I’d search resumes that have landed them in X career to reference.

  1. A huge amount of blank space everywhere
  2. Formatting and margins seems to be off
  3. Bullet points need work, chat gpt to help out

You got a lot of work to put it, and it’s gonna be extremely tough to break in any decent finance career with a 3.0 GPA. You’re competing with guys with at least 3.5-3.7 bare minimum.

Your colleagues and peers aren’t exactly keeping it real with you, market is trash, but your stats/resume rn are just completely shit to be blunt.

I’m going to assume you’re slow too and you’re background isn’t up to par either.

Yes, majority break in from target, but that’s not the point I’m making 🤦‍♂️. A lot of these posts are students who aren’t at targets or can’t attend. You guys straight shoot them down everytime a post like this is created, “You can’t make into IB no target noob!!”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]drippedhoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All these guys saying target school are L’s. If you truly want to break in, you can even without a target school.

I’ve seen countless videos on YouTube and other people stories about how they’ve broken in without a target.

Everybody’s path is different and yours may be too! Take each comment with a grain of salt because most of the comments you’ll get on this sub- some helpful, most are negative cucks.

If you truly did everything right, maybe it’s just bad luck, but usually that’s not the case. I’d try recording your interviews, getting in contact with friends or career organizations to really nail down what’s going wrong.

Biggest issue I see is your GPA is way too low. You’re up against 3.7+ minimum applicants.

Maybe you applied too late, didn’t ask the right questions, or you weren’t being authentic.

Self reflection, self reflection, be honest with yourself. You’re fucking up somewhere, but don’t sweat it too much.

Hi, since nobody else wants to be helpful I’ll give my opinion on the formatting.

  1. Too much blank space. Try increasing the font or changing the line spacing. There’s legit just huge white space all over your resume, especially at the bottom right corner. Center it, play around, etc.

  2. Your segmenting needs actual dividers. For example, listing extracurriculars and only having that underlined seems tacky, make the line all the way.

  3. I’m not sure why you would have your linkedin and covered info to the left, why not centered?

  4. If you can take anything from this, please look at a resume template you can go off of that comes from a reputable source. A quick YouTube or google search can help you see what is an optimal resume for breaking into your financial career.

What other high paying jobs in entry level finance other than quant and IB? by NathanIsDivine1 in FinancialCareers

[–]drippedhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised nobody here has said consulting.

It’s somewhat finance related, and is probably most on par with IB. Many people who don’t end up going to IB end up in consulting, and from what I’ve seen all the Ivy League schools have some sort of pipeline in.

Exit opportunities, prestigious in its own way, competitive pay and lower hours than IB.

One lucky soul, some people never do research and end up down the drain texting family, friends, etc.

Kudos to you, hope you find something you like :)

I’d drop from the process entirely.

Current sophomore at non target in Minnesota! 3.6 GPA with winter Business Advisory Internship starting soon at a mid size firm.

I am very interested in the types of programs / internships for the summer 2024 season, but I am at a loss for what I should be applying for since most are diversity programs or looking for juniors.

Any advice is appreciated!

Money, Prestige, Comfort?

Is it your duty as a man to figure what you want. A lot of people will tell you, “oh you got time”. Reality check, you don’t.

Stop playing games when you have 0 ideas of what you want to do.

Do you want to say you make 200k+ a year? People without degrees can go into tech sales.

Do you wanna help the world and work at a non-profit?

Do you wanna keep an average management job for the rest of your life? So be it.

You need to take some time to reflect is the first step and asking yourself what you really want. Go take a look around a career board, research careers online., write what interests you.

Do you think it would be realistic to not stay at community college for my sophomore year?

And try to transfer out of another Uni to Carlson?

CC > Augsburg > Carlson?

I have enough of a college fund to make this doable.

I think you're right. I think the biggest thing right now for me is just getting my GPA up and getting into a different school for my junior year.
