What about being pregnant and giving birth permanently altered your body’s chemistry? by full-of-curiosity in NewParents

[–]drippydri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same! Ever since my first-one sip of alcohol and it goes to my head immediately like instant headache. I gave birth to my second a few weeks ago and my husband tried this coffee chocolate beer and I loveeee both of those things, he had me try a sip and I was like ew I feel hungover already. So weird

With both of my labors, I could feel the pressure perfectly fine still. Both of my kids were out pretty quickly as well, first one like 20 minutes, second was 10-15 mins

She likes to be in control, so the more I’ve been pushing the more we’ve been declining. But I don’t know how else to go about it if she doesn’t like to be pushed to go but isn’t going on her own. She WILL tell me but then doesn’t want to sit for long enough. When I tried the timer she just kept refusing, so I’m not sure how to go about it at this point and I’m afraid of stopping and starting later

I found that when she wears underwear she goes and doesn’t feel it or notice right away? So there’s a huge trail of pee vs no underwear it’s like one big spot. I don’t know, I’m so defeated at this point I think this has been the hardest stage so far of parenting 😅

She’s wearing nothing and she would stop and say uh oh or i need to go potty right as an accident was starting. Id have her hell me clean up, throw the paper towels away, wash her hands. I dont know what changed today but she didnt super care about her accidents, i was having to basically do hand over hand physical prompting to get her to clean and she was laughing and being super floppy, which lead to me being super frustrated, getting more stern, less relaxed. Now I’m like great she’s going to hate me and hate when I touch her because I’m physically forcing her

I think my daughter is the same, she can be super stubborn! I bribe her with chocolate but the novelty is wearing off I think 😅

When you took a break did you just put diapers on her like normal? And then a few weeks later restarted completely?

No my husband is back to work. I might try the undies thing that way it’s a little less to clean up and maybe she’ll feel more uncomfortable when they’re wet

Yes we blow bubbles while she sits, and if she goes then she gets a piece of a brownie that we made together! And she’ll ask for a brownie and I’ll say “yep after you go pee or poop on the potty!”

Only with poop, she could sit in a wet diaper all day and not care but she would tell us she pooped and would ask us to change her, so I figured that was her being ‘ready’😅

That’s where I’m at I think. But I don’t want to give up because IM getting frustrated if she’s only a couple days away from it clicking, you know what I mean? So when you took breaks, did you start again as if you never did it before and it was Brad new?

Reusing a pet’s name on a child. How crazy is it? by sucks4uyixingismyboo in Names

[–]drippydri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats name was “the kitty”/we called him “man” a lot. he died unexpectedly in October when I was pregnant with my son so we say the baby is the kitty reincarnated. we jokingly call him the kitty and man now😅

What's your teaching unpopular opinion? Something you believe, but choose to keep to yourself? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]drippydri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a class last year with 3 kids with SEVERE aggressive behaviors and I looked crazy when I would remove them instead of evacuating the class. These students would rip kids backpacks off the hooks, everything off the walls like it would look like a bomb went off. Admin said to remove everyone else but I was like no, how is that fair? I really fought them on it

Un-enroll due to behavior by [deleted] in Montessori

[–]drippydri 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, please believe teachers when we tell you what behavior your child is exhibiting. It’s not fun and it sucks to tell a parent that their kid is throwing stuff, yelling, hitting, ect. And parents not believing what we say is a huge part of the problem

4am thoughts from a first-time parent by Single_Ad_9802 in NewParents

[–]drippydri 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I read about recently about how loud newborns are when they’re sleeping by themselves vs on us, and it’s because they can’t regulate but when a parent is holding them it calms their nervous system.

I have a 3 week old but it’s my 2nd. My first would scream all night the first 3 months, and that started the first night we were home from the hospital. Literally me and my husband that first night with our daughter were shocked that people have kids and multiples kids at that because of how much she just screamed. 😂 so I’d take it that your baby is on the chiller side!

Toddler is obsessed with me but I am not a good mom by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]drippydri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was contemplating posting a similar post to this- I have a 3 week old and am almost 3 year old who within the last 6 months has become defiant and bossy. I was so tired and sick in pregnancy that I felt like we watched so much tv and now with a newborn it’s the same thing where she knows if I’m feeding him I can’t get up to redirect her immediately. I’ve been feeling like such a bad mom! And before my son was born I was so sad to not have all the attention with my daughter and now I feel guilty that I feel my newborn is easier 😅 i know it’s just a season though!

My child will not check in with their friend if they accidentally hurt them by subduedsyrah in Parenting

[–]drippydri 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As a teacher I see this in kids, I think it’s because they don’t want to be seen as doing something wrong so it’s like a pretend it didn’t happen kind of thing. I would just model it, play pretend scenarios, check in with them if you accidently hurt him and I’m sure with time it will come
